Can I make it to another 10 years without psychosis again?

Is it going to be possible for me ? :frowning:
I got off the antipsychotics with pdoc consent so I don’t advocate doing anything without approval from a pdoc…and I don’t advice going off antipsychotics!

That’s crazy ! The reason you’re sane now is probably cos you’ve been on APs and they were working.

Had they not put me on an antidepressant though,I would still not need them I think but as I have underlying mania I probably would have ended up down that road sooner or later.

i think if you stay on your meds that you can go long time without getting psychotic. so yea it’s possible huh

I switched APs and became psychotic in 2016.
I plan on sticking with risperdal so I should be ok for a while.

If you stay on the Abilify you should be fine @anon80629714.

I was going to ask to reduce the dose back down to 10mg but then I sleep much better on 15mg , and the anxiety is much less, I am spending a lot though but not enough to go into debt.

I’m wondering how long I’ll go psychosis free. I had a small/minor episodes of over the last two years but otherwise I’ve been fully functional

I’m on 10mg abilify btw

Yeah I think for me even though 10mg kept the psychosis away, the 15mg is helping me sleep better and less anxious but still debating if I need the higher dose.

Keep it tbh. It’s better not to be anxious and imo anxiety can spiral into psychosis imo.

Why did your pdoc take you off the ap’s?

Because he thought I didn’t have schizophrenia but mood swings

How long has he been treating you? You should go to a pdoc who has seen you in your psychosis period.

It’s not possible to choose in the nhs. I can’t do that as the inpatient pdoc don’t treat in community. Plus I never see same one.

Forgive me for asking too many questions but what’s your take on this … do you know or think that you have ever been psychotic?

It’s ok  I’ve been psychotic in 2010 and a few months back. So twice in total.

So if you know that you have a history of psychosis then you must be on ap’s dude. Ap’s are your saving grace here no two ways about it.

Well , as it was only one episode and 10 years ago he thought it was ok to go off them … but the antidepressant without any other moods stabaliser pushed me to psychosis. Again.

I think the chances of me becoming psychotic again are negligible.
I have an occasional flare up of symptoms, but the flare ups are not very severe and overall I am quite
steady.

Then find a pdoc who has some sense … Go to him/her with all your reports and get your ap’s.
