Cause hallucinations?
For me it was when I was on no other meds. Wellbutrin caused me many vivid hallucinations. Bugs crawling all over me, walls breathing, etc… felt like I was tripping on acid
But ever since antipsychotics I haven’t had such a reaction. I take Zoloft now.
I was wondering because I’m hallucinating and I wanted to know if my meds could cause it. Thank you @Jonnybegood
I’m on the max dose of it and have never had any sort of issue with it. Leaves me with a bit more pep, removes suicidal urges. Take it away and I become fixated with noose making.
Wellbutrin made me hallucinate at higher doses
Wellbutrin was the first pill I ever took other than a half an adderall once. I took it may of 2010 and it was a top trigger for my first big psychotic break.
I tried it again in combo with zyprexa a year later and it just gave me a mood boost, no psychosis.
Then I stopped my zyprexa and continued Wellbutrin and had a bad episode.
Could’ve been more due to stopping Zyprexa, but the antipsychotics allow me to take antidepressants by balancing me out a bit
My experience with antidepressants
I hear ya. I was kind of “out there” on Effexor and coming off of it is a nightmare. That’s some real withdrawal.
Was prescribed Welbutrin and after two days of taking it I started getting more auditory hallucinations and my thoughts changed. Almost positive if I would have continued I would have had to go to the hospital. Stopped taking it and was back to the usual in about 4 days.
I looked it up and it turns out they can.
antidepressant caused psychosis can happen yeah.
I had one that remitted when I was taken off of celexa.
how long ago did you start taking them? i think they potentially could. if you just started taking one then you might just need a week or two to adapt to it.
I’ve been on cymbalta for 2 years.
My doctor took me off Wellbutrin because it was triggering my psychosis.
oh true, maybe some changes that youve made to your life recently?
Cymbalta inhibits the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine in the central nervous system. It also increases dopamine by acting on dopamine reuptake pumps, thus increasing the diffusion of dopamine in the brain
maybe there’s an excess/deficit in dopamine or serotonin
Yes. Most definitely if not taken correctly or perhaps prescribed due to a wrong diagnosis. If you have them, contact the doctor who prescribed them for you immediately. Good luck.
i took several of them one at a time of course for a few years each. never had any problems. no withdrawal, nothing.
elavil, zoloft, paxil, and another generic…
