I think they can. I have many guy friends but I won’t lie and say they haven’t come on to me at some point…

It’s possible but there will always be temptation somewhere along the line. That’s why in Islam the ladies wear modestly and can’t be alone with a man in a room unless he’s blood related or husband.

Researchers found that while women were generally not attracted to their male friends and saw the relationship as strictly platonic, the men usually had romantic feelings for their lady friends. Not only were the guys more attracted to their supposedly platonic female buds, they also mistakenly believed that the feelings were reciprocal, and they were more willing to act on their erroneously perceived mutual attraction.
Thus, the study suggests that women generally think that guys and gals can “just be friends,” while men are secretly hoping there’s a chance their relationships with their female friends can be something more.

I am kidding but yes I have had a friend like that who I was not in the slightest attracted to, and one day I found out he was in love with me and actually believed I was playing some game with him and secretly I loved him too. LOL
This was when I was 18 I guess.

I deleted by account and moved on with my life. This stuff is good for single people. Even I am finding strange to meet women like that.

Yeah, I think as a guy friendships with women are not only possible but they are preferable to having a relationship. When there are appropriate unspoken boundaries within those friendships something nearer to equality is reached. I say this as someone who has female friends where there are no expectations put upon either of us. We simply chat, talk about what been happening in our lives, share a drink and there is no frisson of something else. Something that could ruin a valued life-long friendship. Affection is worlds apart from something else. There is no denying that there may be unconscious sexual tension between men and women but if it repressed for the greater good of each other then absolutely women and men can be friends.
