Can a brain recover from drug abuse?

What about inhaling the gas they give you during labour. I wonder if that also kills the brain like huffing solvents ?

I never used heroin @Wave it’s a death sentence to use that ■■■■

No. That is laughing gas. Totally harmless.

Laughing gas is not harmless, you are basically suffocating. Injuries can vary from ripping lungs to brain damage or even death

I should have said with an anesthesiologist

Yes you can totally recover, idk if that’s true but it’s positive, I know the brain can heel itself but

It depends on the drug and the level of abuse. In extreme cases, destroyed brain matter is destroyed brain matter. Neuroplasticity can help a bit, but it will not restore significant function that has been lost.

One of the differences you notice between attending AA and attending NA is that you can hit bottom at AA and still be able to form new memories and learn new things after sobering up (although liver-related issues dog some of us for life). Someone who hits bottom at NA may have so much brain damage from their use that they will never be a viable member of society again - the best you can hope for is to keep them clean and somewhat serene.
