I go threw the same thing too. It’s hard for me because I get so depressed I don’t feel like doing anything.

I got into the habit of brushing them everyday. Wish I could say the same thing about showering.

Edit: I brush them during the day, as I don’t feel like brushing them at night. I brush around 3pm.

Schizophrenia and schizoaffective are ex diagnoses. Poor dental hygiene was listed as an issue in the early 80s. It still is bad. I rarely think of brushing my teeth. I guess for many it would be an automatic action but not for me.

I had braces as a preteen. But because my symptoms started when I was wearing a retainer, I never wore the retainer or brushed my teeth. Now my teeth are crooked again and would need braces to straighten them back together. It frustrates me a lot that because of my symptoms that my oral hygiene suffered.

Fear of dentist… helps me keep the teeth brushed and flossed…

But taking a shower… taking care of the skin… not as good as I should be.

I’ve been pretty good about brushing my teeth lately. I do it twice a day and I gargle with a fluoride mouthwash. I’ve lost quite a few of my teeth, and if I lose any more I am going to have to get dentures. Getting dental problems fixed is expensive. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Ignore your teeth and they will go away.

I’ve been having difficulties brushing my teeth, flossing, showering, washing my hair, and cleaning my house for years and years. I would go weeks without showering and months without cleaning my house sometimes. It was really pathetic. And it all started years before my son died. And it got no worse after he died. As a matter of fact, it improved. Five years later, now, I am showering about once a week, and washing my hair about twice a week now. In order to start cleaning house, I had to move into an assisted living home where they do all the housecleaning for me. My teeth brushing is still bad. I talked to my dentist today. She made me promise to brush my teeth at least one time a day. She said that brushing is more important than flossing.

Lol desperado!

Really, my teeth hygiene is bad, too. I tend to brush only every second night when my teeth get furry.

I have a real hard time brushing my teeth. I have my first dentist appointment in Feb and am worried what they are going to say.

I brush my teeth twice a day and use mouthwash, but I never floss. I clench my teeth pretty hard at night and have broken teeth before. My teeth have never been super healthy, and I hate going to the dentist, so brushing makes me feel better. Showering is much harder to do.

I’ve always kind of used the bathroom / the shower specifically as a “safe place”.

I know I’m working against a bad swing by taking a shower in the dark. The dark is soothing and the shower is soothing. But I rarely do that anymore.

I have terrible dental hygiene, have lost multiple teeth, and am still in fairly early adulthood. I have the teeth of someone twice my age. Dental health is one of my paranoia topics – I start worrying about a cavity or a crumbling molar, and then I’m having nightmares about pulling my own teeth out, or going paralytic and dissociated while trying to get up the nerve to call a dentist. Then I need someone to go with me to the appointment or I will try to weasel out of it. I have left dentists’ offices in order to avoid seeing them or having anything done.

Right now I’m pretty deep in a depression, but I have been showering at least once a week, so that’s positive. I brush my teeth when my mouth feels gross – not daily.

I hope you have all been brushing your teeth today!

I may skip a shower when I’m down but there is no permanent damage.

But skip brushing your teeth and getting checkups and you WILL get cavities that are painful and cost big bucks and set up your teeth for a short lifetime.

So you only plan on eating for 30 -40 years?
This thought keeps me brushing 2 times a day every day no matter what.

I brush one time per day only. I have an electric toothbrush. I feel the electric brush does a better job than me with the old hand toothbrush. I use expensive repair and protect toothpaste and I believe it helps to fight cavities.

Hi there, you have to take care of your teeth from beginning. If your oral health is good you don’t need any dentist.

Yeeeaaaahhhhh my dental health is poor and I’m slightly embarassed about it.
