Does anyone here experience brain zaps? I thought I was being shot the first time it happened. What can I do to get rid of them?

Only ever had them when I was withdrawing from Effexor. After a few weeks off the medication they went away.

Brain zaps mainly happen when you’re going through withdrawal from antidepressants. Take your antidepressant and they should go away in a couple days

My boyfriend and I sat outside the hospital in my van as I was detoxing off of Zoloft. I figured if I went in they would just give me more. However, I couldn’t afford to get my prescription refilled so there was no point of going in, I would most likely have to go through the entire detox again once I ran out of the ones they gave me. At least in the parking lot I was safe and my boyfriend could call a paramedic. The brain zaps were so intense I could hardly move but I survived the night.
