so tomorrow my Sister is meeting me to be there for me when i apply for this badge,
idk if i will get it but i’ve been told by a leading charity that i can appeal if i dont get it,
I didnt think i was elligible but a woman from the charity who i was talking to at a mental health meetup group told me i have a chance so i decided to try,
I was talking about it at my clubhouse today and the members didn’t have a problem with it, even my friend who is wheel chair bound was on my side.
Schizophrenics in Canada qualify for handicapped parking, but it seems like a moral grey area, since it’s made for people who use wheelchairs, with the extra clearance space involved.
If I ever see someone leave a handicap spot without a cane, a wheelchair, a support from a loved one etc, I’ll make sure to properly put them in that handicap spot in the future.
I hear you but i wouldnt be taking one of those spaces bc i know that people worse off need it but i still feel like if i am eligible in certain situations like if i cant get a space near where i am going then i can park legally on a yellow line as long as its safe, i have been ticketed for doing such a thing bc i didnt have the badge and i had to pay about £300 in 4 or 5 separate parking fines.
I think my cousin got this for generalised anxiety because she gets really anxious to the point she’s even fainted a few times.
My dad used to get it too (visually impaired ) … he couldn’t drive but mum did drive him places … this person once put a letter in our car on the front to say he should be ashamed of himself cos he looked fine but he was legally (partially ) blind. It made me so angry.
If you are applying without one of the benefits, the application will need to be assessed by the issuing local council. To help assess the application, you’ll be asked to provide extra information depending on the answers you give when you are checking eligibility.
If you cannot walk or find walking difficult or you have a non-visible (hidden) condition, you will be asked to provide details of any:
relevant medication that is taken
relevant treatments that you receive or are due to receive
healthcare or associated professionals that have been involved with the treatment of your condition
You will be asked if you want to upload supporting documents. This could be prescriptions, diagnosis letters or correspondence between professionals that treat your condition.
If you cannot walk or find walking difficult, you will also be asked questions around how your condition affects your walking.
If you have a non-visible (hidden) condition, you will also be asked questions around how journeys between your vehicle and destination are affected by your condition.
If you’re a driver aiming to get one how does that affect your need to have a special parking spot ?,
If you’re like me ,and fit those criteria , and are a passenger, then so long as the driver doesn’t have those problems is the driver’s ability to park in a disabled slot going to be that necessary ?
