I’m bipolar with psychosis and mainly have audiotory hallucinations, I’m sick of my current Haldol and curious about this Abilify…
I’ve been considering going back to Abilify also. I was doing great on that med but the weight gain is scaring me. watch your diet
You gained weight on it?
yeah, sorry. I gained 50 pounds on that med in a year! woo
Ugh. Everyones different though. I’m thinking about Geoden or Abilify. Haldol just has me feeling so flat and lifeless.
Someone was calling it Abilifry lol.
I don’t know much about it. If you haven’t tried I’d suggest you give it a shot.
Sorry! Geodon made me lifeless also. I didn’t do well on that med at all. But you’re absolutely right, it might work differently for you.
They do say that abilify is activating. Might increase manic phases.
I don’t know my friend but I still used to get emotional and sometimes cry on Abilify but with Geodon, I’ve become a robot.
…
Are you gaining weight on Geo?
no with geodon, I lost all the weight I had gained + I started intense exercise. Now I’m switching to Latuda
Well on Geoden you actually felt like working out?
Latuda was bad news for me
yeah the first few months after recovery, I did so much on Geodon. I lost weight, I started training, I took extra classes at the university, I had a full time job + I was working from home. I was in a superhuman mode but it’s gonna ware out eventually. That was my experience anyway. Now that I’m quitting this med, I’m miserable and having weird symptoms.
Interesting. Well thank you so much waterway. I just want my drive back. I’m in a state of meh about everything now.
good luck. Hope you find something that works well for you <3
I’m currently taking Abilify, 400mg injections every four weeks. I don’t like it, but as a med it offers the fewest side effects, so I’ve noticed. Let’s just say my brain doesn’t know when to feel “content” or “full” from eating, and I crave carb heavy, high sugar, iron dense foods, which doesn’t help. That probably comes from the dopamine agonism that the med causes.
I’ve been on Haldol, pill form & injects and I have to say it hurt my brain big-time. It over-exerted the brain and I’m never going back. I’ve also been on Latuda, Seroquel, Cyprexa, and another med which I cannot remember. None helped or made me feel better. The only med I recommend, based on experience, is Abilify (injection).
I’m currently trying to get the lowest dose injection, 300mg. I’m also going to supplement with a fat burner come Winter as I hate the bloat and fatty look, but that could just be a symptom of aging too.
Thanks but if I ever tried it. I would take low dose pill form.
Abilify is weird. I heard somewhere on this board that at 5 MG, abilify acts as an anti-depressant. It’s not until almost 10 mg that it’s an anti-psychotic. I’m on 300 MG injection monthly and 10 MG oral daily=20 mg per day. I didn’t realize they made 400 MG injections of abilify.
Abilify is the best medication I’ve ever taken.
I’m schizo-affective not schizophrenic.
