It’s going to be awkward, I just hope that other people will do most of the talking. If anybody has any hints or tips about conversations, then feel free to share!
Yes - the only one I can think of off the top of my head is to avoid religion(s) and politics.
But other than that have fun and enjoy your family! ![]()
Probably good advice! I have religious unusual beliefs and the rest of the people there are going to be mainstream religious.
Thank you. I was worried my post sounded offensive.
I totally understand though!
I identify as Christian with my beliefs, but I do have a lot of odd beliefs that I kind of throw into the cocktail of my belief system LoL.
Try to turn the conversation back on the person you are talking to. Ask a lot of questions about them, what they have been up to, what they’re planning to do in the future etc. Make them do the hard work.
Also, try to remember something they say they’re about to do and you can bring it up in conversation next time you meet, people like that, it shows you were listening and makes them think you care about what they said.
Thanks turtle, thats great advice!
That’s what I do at work … seems to work really well, people are impressed if I bring up something they mentioned a couple of weeks or months prior. It leaves a good impression.
Have a plate of food in your hand so you can take a bite of food if someone asks you an awkward question. You can’t answer with your mouth full.
Yeah I’m not a big conversationalist in public.
You should be fine @everhopeful.
I always bring up the weather
