I was a similar age. Bit later on for Soundgarden but I have always liked this type of music.
Glad you found it too! They made some really good music.
The gig was good. The only shame was the sound for Motorhead wasn’t great as you could barely hear Lemmy. Sound Garden played Superunknown cover to cover
A Mushroomhead-Avatar co-headlining concert. The last of the openers impressed me, too; their band is called Righteous Vendetta. I had never heard of Avatar, either, before that show, but my friends and i were blown away by their performance. Mushroomhead is always great live.
That concert was wild; at one point their was a young woman suspended from the ceiling, held by hooks that were poked through the skin of her back.
My first concert was Metallica and Guns N Roses in 1991. I saw Nirvana with Smashing Pumpkins opening in 1992. I saw Rage Against The Machine new years eve in 1993. Pink Floyd in 1994. Pantera with Slayer summer of 1995.
Mosh pits were crazy and fun. Pantera and Slayer were nothing but skin heads marching around punching each other. There was broken glass all over the ground. Rage Against The Machine someone from the upper stands kept throwing m80’s into the pit. I spent the entire concert crowd surfing. My buddy made it onto the stage at Nirvana. I remember him jumping up and down in triumph that he made it on stage. He took a couple steps back and made a run for it to dive onto the crowd. A bouncer came out of nowhere and tackled him. They threw him out the back door.
Pink Floyd was the best. The laser show was incredible. They had reflectors on the ceiling and there were lasers bouncing all over the arena. I went to the bathroom and I was so high I got lost. So I wondered onto the main floor. I found an empty seat in the 15th row. I sat down next to these three guys and they had a cigarette pack full of joints. I smoked down with them. When the pyro’s went off I could taste the colors. I ended up catching step throat. The next day I woke up sick as hell.
-Maybe Mozart’s requiem in a cathedral. That was awesome.
-Jazz bands in a radio concert hall.
-a Django Reinhardt tribute festival.
-Maceo Parker.
-I’d like to see a big band orchestra like Glenn Miller new orchestra.
I saw a lot of concerts another good one was Guns N’ Roses at AT&T park a few years ago. King crimson was musically the best. Kiss rocked . Rush was great. I dunno . Fleetwood Mac in San Jose was memorable too
Lot’s of great shows when I was younger and out and about. A favorite was REM on the Green tour. It was in an old venue in Brisbane called festival hall right in the city center. Wasn’t really a big fan but they played an amazing show. In the end the band left one by one whilst playing a cover of The Velvet Underground song AFter hours…Michael Stipe ended up being on stage 20 minutes later still chatting to the audience…Was funny and a nice cap to a great show.
I have a lot of envy for my siblings because they have seen big names perform in concert. I’ve been to only a few small ones. Envy is a sneaky emotion, I often don’t realize I have it and I do. Envy is a snake ! Luckily I never have it with hate.
