I know there is no cure, and I know there probably aren’t drugs that all agree on have an impact on negative symptoms. But as of now, what are the best available drugs for the negative symptoms of schizophrenia?
I can tell a little about myself. The only thing that has given me (temporary) relief from my negative symptoms is antibiotics, and minocycline in particular. See this http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24503176
What I’d really like is a list of available drugs that might have an impact on negative symptoms. For example D-Serine is, according to some, beneficial for negative symptoms.
Abilify is the only drug that ever helped me with the negative symptoms. Treating the negative symptoms is something the pharmaceutical companies haven’t tackled yet.
Yes, yes, I know. Like written in the OP, there are probably not drugs that all agree have an impact (even if it’s small) on negative symptoms. But there are some that show (at least a little) promise, like glycine, cycloserine (Seromycin), minocycline, D-serine etc. etc.
I just began reading about this days ago, so I don’t know the names of all of them yet.
Great that Abilify has given you helped you with negative symptoms! Everyone reacts differently, I guess. Thanks for weighing in, Crimby.
