Best appetite suppressants

I usually eat a banana after taking metamucil and I feel really full.

I forgot to say that I always eat breakfast. Usually a serving size bowl of cereal with sugar and milk and decaf black coffee is all. No lunch, and a big dinner at 500 pm. Nothing between meals but decaf coffee and plain tap water. I exercise every single day doing something that I love (yoga, piano playing and taking the stairs in my apartment building). My weight is ideal.

I have just discovered that a cup of boiled water works tremendously.

It’s weird when I started taking 5 mg of zyprexa I could eat anything in sight. Then I moved to 10 mg and I lost abit of my appetite. Then I moved to 15 and I’m not nearly as hungry. So strange

How much boiled water do you use @Qwerty1?

Are you still on Zyprexa @anon20318121?

Yes I’m on 15mg

Opps sorry I think i missed this.
No I dont know a protein supplement to lose weight.

I think losing weight is an interesting angle from a sz/ anti psychotic point of view.

For example @anon57786250 suggests L-Tyrosine and that would certainly work as L-Tyrosine breaksdown into L-Dopa which breaks down into Dopamine which stims the dopamne receptors and makes you feel focused ., high energy and pleasurable. Except Dopamine is strongly associated with sz.
Most APs tend to antagonize the D+ receptors which is one reason sz people lack motivation etc and put on weight. Also most weight loss supplements tend to be amphetamine analog based so have pretty much the same effect - ie stimming D receptors and triggering psychosis.

So its a balancing act. Just enough stim to reduce weight but keep cycling with supps that balance that out. Which is where Rhodiolo R can be useful as its one of those rare herbs that give energy but also has certain alkaloids that @Xade mentioned that actually antagonize D repts. Good stuff.

The other very useful angle is non stim supps - your fiber is an excellent example as is the role of insulin.

There is a complicated relationship/association between insulin and dopamine. Long story short a ketogenic diet or a low carb diet tends to have both weight loss and anti psychotic effects ( will need to hunt up refs for that if you want them) . Also there are a bunch of herbs such as Garcinia Cambogia , gymnema sylvestre and a few I am trying out now such as caralluma fimbriata which is a carb and fat blocker - which also (so far) tends to diminish my delusions slightly and help reduce weight.

Certainly worth exploring more but be careful to avoid stims too much as that is the slippery pole to psychosis - unfortunately :frowning:

I use Topomax. That works great to keep weight down.

I don’t gain any weight on Abilify. It seems to be weight neutral.

What appetite suppressant did you use?

I found I I had to make a med change. I could not get off the couch at all with Risperdal. When I changed to Clozapine I could actually lift weights and ride a bicycle. I tried all the appetite suppressants and it’s not effective for long term weight loss.

I still get extremely hungry. I found that if I eat healthy and exercise I will eventually reach my goals.

I’m a female. If I eat 1200 calories, I stay the same weight. And my dietician tells me I can’t safely go below 1200 calories a day. I don’t know what to do because I am ten pounds heavier than I want to be.

Caffeine actually suppresses hunger and causes the body to burn more calories daily. However, it can make some people like me more manic/psychotic
