Beating myself up over my interview today

The presentation part of the interview was solid and went really well. The issues came when they started asking me some interview style questions which I narrowly scraped through I feel.

But when the head of the team started talking in detail about what the role entails it was hard to grasp everything he was talking about in that short amount of time, so I found it hard to comment or add to what he was talking about because I was afraid of looking stupid.

I was kind of reserved and non conversational for a lot of it. I managed to ask them a lot of questions about the job, but I feel that there were cues where they were expecting me to say more or comment on what was being said, but my mind was totally blank so I just said stock phrases like “Yeah” or “right”. So embarrasing.

Its a great job for me, hybrid and 28hours a week. I blew it I think.

Perhaps your frankness and honesty shone through.

It takes a good 3 months before anyone is truly comfortable in a new job…my theory anyways.

I hope you get it! Let us all know!

Usually that might get you the job!

Joking aside, wait and see! Fretting about it won’t change a thing.

I had literally the same experience with a council position a few months back. Try not to worry too much. I’m sure there will be other remote opportunities

Haha well it was one guy and two ladies that interviewed me. Maybe I won’t get it on the grounds of him getting sexually threatened by me, stealing all the babes :person_shrugging: jk

Yeah I’ve been accepted into a job already with the NHS, but it’s only till March. eventually it can be hybrid though provided that all goes well.

Thanks, it’s tough when interviews don’t go the way you want them to. I don’t think I’ve experienced that happen before. Maybe another time.

That’s good man, I hope they consider a contract extension. Wishing you well

Yeah they said that at the end of march there’ll be a position going that covers MAT leave and that the most successful administrator will get the role. I much prefer this other job that I interviewed for as it’s a permanent position but it is what it is.

Wishing you well too man.
