Before my narcolepsy was diagnosed/treated I used to have to drink coffee & energy drinks to get me through the day every day. One summer I dealt w geodon sedation on top of that and was drinking 2-3 energy drinks a day but also wasn’t on top of hygiene so I wasn’t brushing my teeth at all. At the end of the summer I’d wracked up a $5000 dental bill. That was rough.

Post treatment I haven’t touched a single energy drink. Just don’t need them anymore.

I totally bought them in a ‘I’ll get a buzz off these’ kind of way. They are pretty psychotropic

I drink 2 a day and I sleep good at night. I’ve been doing it for a couple of weeks. The first night I drank them I didn’t sleep very well though.

I wouldn’t say avoid energy drinks. But I would say to avoid drinking 6 at once!

All things in moderation! One energy drink certainly won’t hurt but 6, yeah, that’s worrisome! Many people with ADHD self-medicate with them due to caffeine content though.

Yea I second that it’s definitely the sugar content that’s the problem. Their probably addictive in part cause you actually do need the b vitamins but the sugar crash is horrible. Even the caffeine in it is okay but the refined sugars are whack. B-vitamin suppliments, milk, or espresso over energy drinks any day!

Yeah, those are hard on a person. I limit myself to a single cup of coffee most days now because of problems with irregular heartbeat. Chugging a six-pack of energy drinks would have me ending up like the characters who use Extremis on Agents of Shield. (BOOM!)

:flushed:

I’ve never had a single sip of an energy drink at any time. I just know that they would keep me up all night and also make me fat because of all the calories and sugar content in them. No, I don’t need them.

I’m glad you’ve finally learned that lesson.

I have never had an energy drink. I drink 4 cups of coffee in the morning though. That’s enough to get me moving.

Years ago when I used to drink a friend tried buying me a Red Bull and vodka and I told him no thanks.

When I was young and stupid I once drank a Mountain Dew energy drink to see if my voices would sound like the Chimpmunks. They didn’t but I stayed awake that night and didn’t feel too good.
