I’ve always been curious about this question. Are all great artists naturally creative?

Usually yes. They have an ability to form a mental image and reproduce it with motor skills. It’s quite a set of keen abilities.

Whether an artist is a great artist is in the eye of the beholder.
From my perspective of a great artist, I think they are all creative because it’s about creating something original that beautifully evokes feelings, memories etc

I believe also that artists spend a lot of time honing certain creativities. Though there are a lot of different ways to be creative other than art work.

I’m a creative person when it comes to certain things but I’m a really, really crappy artist. I can’t reproduce anything that i picture in my mind when i draw or paint…but i still like trying!

Ive seen a lot of incredible musicians who imo aren’t very creative at all. I’ve also seen it go the other way with people who aren’t particularly accomplished musicians but they go and reinvent their instruments. Hendrix comes to mind.

I was able to pick up piano playing at an early age and was seen as a promising talent, although lazy.
However I could never compose anything of real value, nor did I feel the urge to try, except when I was in love

Creativity at the highest level is usually at the intersection of art and science.
Scientists who are creative may imagine better, to think in new ways.
Artists of the highest caliber need to be Mathematically inclined and have a very strong sense of degree and proportion, of structure, etc.
I consider myself to be creative, but I am a terrible artist. … I prefer crafts.

I remember some of your art and it was not terrible! Quite the opposite…
I guess what I mean is, I am not good with certain types of art like portraits or realism,… but I have a different style of art.

I just used micorsoft paint 3d and used my pen that came with my tablet.
You can change the brushes on it but I had no help with the actual drawing.
