Are You Taking Your Medication On A Daily Basis

I’m on quite a lot of medication and I have to take my medication morning & at night.
600 mg of Quetiapine in two divided doses. And Amisulpride in two divided doses.
I’m just a bit confused because there are a lot of posts that say , sometimes I take them when I feel unwell??

I have to take my medication. If I didn’t I wouldn’t be typing this. I’d be hidden away climbing the wall’s!!!

You have to take your antipsychotic everyday.

Sometimes people are prescribed an extra antipsychotic like haldol for emergencies. Haldol is quick acting.

When people say they take them when they’re having issues, it’s actually used as needed in addition to what they take every day. It’s called prn meds, or as needed meds.

Everybody here are lovely folks don’t get me wrong. I just thought, please take your meds and you will feel much better.

But thanks i did forget to think of PRN medication.

Hi @LevelJ1

All I would say is don’t go through the suffering. But if you’re SZ is stable stick to your PRN’s

Yes it seems to work for me. My psychiatrist is ok with it.
She said she has 2 types of patients, the risk takers and the ones that play it safe. Im in the risk taking category lol.

Basically she said if i ended up in a bad episode suddenly i may not have the insight to take the medication.
I have a good support network of people though.

I’ve been on some inhalers that I take every day, but I have a hard time remembering to take them at the same time every day, and some days I miss a dose completely.

Invega and Wellbutrin first thing in the morning.
Clozapine before going to bed.

Not too complicated. I don’t use a pill box, It’s a reflex to take them.

I take Risperidone everyday. If I don’t I temporarily feel better and more energetic but after a few days psychosis slowly starts surfacing.

I’ve gotten to the point where I can take breaks. Recently I stopped medication for 9 days and then went back on it. I take haldol, and as someone said in a post above–it appears to be quick acting

I am on Lurasidone again now, so I have to have the 350 calories of food which is annoying

Bought some thick milkshakes that are about that calorie count, so they’ll do for now

But yes I don’t miss my medications.

Usually anything I get given PRN turns into a full time med, which is irritating
