As name suggests are we allowed to try to off and see what happens at least once in our lives.
Or do we just have to trust the bullshit system and go with it forever…
Lots of people here have tried it

Every time I decreased my meds, voices were louder and more powerful
I take my meds not because of the sistem. I still have positive symptoms from time to time. HoW do you explain that?
After I finish school and work for a year or so I’m gonna move back home and quit meds, I must be pacient I still have a few years to go
I quit meds without the okay of my psychiatrist a little over a year ago. It took about a month for me to become psychotic again.
I see way more failing stories of people going off meds than successes. And also if someone is going to try to go off of meds, they have to take into consideration the effect it may have on the people around them, i.e. family, co-workers. neighbors etc. Someone relapsing needs a lot of help and It may cause symptoms and behaviour that a family isn’t prepared for. Going off of meds is a persons choice but it is a gamble and a risk that may not work out as you planned.
there isnt really any rules to it. its your decision in the end. you just have to be prepared for whatever could happen.
I would say don’t think your life will become magically better if you dont take anything. you should definitely have a lot of coping strategies in place, and what to do if you get psychosis again cuz theres a high chance it could happen again.
and discuss it with your doc.
I tried going off my medication just for ONE day and i struggled with symptoms returning…but then the Ziprasidone has never really managed my symptoms fully.
Look, if you want to try going without your medication that is your choice, but i would recommend that you do this under consultation of a doctor. So at least if someone does happpen someone will be there to help you. I wouldn’t recommend quitting though. It has nothing to do with obeying the system, but everything to do with your mental health. Repeated psychotic episodes isn’t good for the brain, worsens its function.__
My psychiatrist gave a chance to go without meds. It lasted for about 8 months. Didn’t end well.
I successfully went off meds for five years but it came back and ever since i had to stay on meds because each time i tried to come off it caused me to relapse
Threads like these are good for those of us who have the urge to try going off meds. I know I’m one of them. The more I read of other’s failures the less I’m inclined to try it. Thank you all!
I’ve been off meds for 5 days now and I’m doing fine.
Just extremely anxious but that’s about it
Yes we are. But only with the pdoc’s supervision. I am going to go off one of my three AP’s, under my pdoc’s supervision this upcoming Summer. I am tired of playing the piano like ■■■■. The Risperdal Consta destroys my piano playing ability. Or so I suspect.
You can not experience the real life and living with its daily life events that are shared by all general population while you are hear the incorporeal voices or/ under the effect of chemical drug !
It supposed that, you take the medication for awhile (many weeks),to feel the improvement, and restoration the mental ability to act and behave ,then you should going to the natural life to living with all conditions, effects and different daily life events instead to living with your internal world ,it is hard in the beginning but it is becomes easy day after day
it seems like lots of us try it
not sure why
my brain was in front of me off of them
it was colliding with everything
not good
are you off 5 days cold turkey? like no taper? if so your probably going to be in for a rude awakening man
I have a history of going off meds. Mainly I done it cold turkey which probably made things worse but I went off. Each tie I removed medication from my system, I relapse with in a psych tic episode or a manic/depressive episode. Then it takes time to get me back on.
It so hard cause i want to get off medication. I’m not in the camp to not trust medication as an important thing for certain people (unless I am being poisoned then I tend to think meds are bad or if I get into con spiry theories) but I would love to not have to deal with it. Yet, my mind says and acts in ways that requires meds.
You’re allowed to do whatever you want, as long as you’re not forcibly medicated or have a court order. As for whether or not your doctor will recommend it, that depends on where you live. Here, they do, and I attempted to quit meds with the approval of my doctor about two years ago.
I think the risk of relapse is higher if you quit abruptly.
Where I live, if you have had maybe like one psychotic break then none since being on meds they usually let you try a med reduction trial. But if doesn’t work out you usually have to go back on meds.
Here doctors often apply for court ordered treatment if you a history of risky activities when unmedicated
