Are negative symptoms permanent?

hi…i was ill .right now im ok.all my delusions and positve symptoms have gone.presently i suffer from negative symptoms(avoltion ,amotivation, apathy, asocialty).i used to be body builder, right now i find no pleasure in physcical activity.i dont care by apperance how i look.cognitive dsyfunction also.im wondering how long do these negative symptoms last.(i tried risperidone.abilify and now amulsipride…but no great change in motivation)…so IS THESE PERMANENT SYMPTOMS…HELP

They’re persistent, but I don’t think they’re permanent. There is a supplement called “sarcosine” that helps some people with negative symptoms. There is an advertisement for it at the top of the page.

oh …yeah i saw it …hav any one tried it and became succesful.i want to know…an how much it cost roughly

I’ve been fighting negative symptoms for over 20 years, mostly successfully. Sarcosine helps. Doesn’t get rid of the symptoms, but makes it easier to push past them. If the negative symptoms are like being trapped in a crowded room, sarcosine gives me the energy and motivation to push through the crowd. It’s one of the very few supplements I’ve used that not only delivers on promises, but over-delivers. A rare thing.

Also: Diet, exercise, and therapy are needed. You have to do all of these no matter how tired and listless you feel. Those SZs who sit around waiting for the ‘next big med’ to fix all of their problems seem to spend their whole lives waiting and accomplishing nothing. The time to get up and get moving is NOW.

I tried it, and it didn’t work for me, but other people have tried it and it worked for them. If you buy it in the 180 gram size it costs about $31.00 including shipping, I think. You can click on the advertisement at the top of the page and it will give you the price. Most people take between 2 and 4 grams a day. I have heard of more.

how much does sarcosine cost?

I’ve been learning the hard way about diet.

Diet is number one priority for me now as I fluctuate high and low symptoms/instability on ■■■■ food.
Number two is exercise and therapy. Everything else to me is a compliment.

I get some pretty deep negative symptoms… when I was younger… I gave in… stopped moving… and slowed down… I was sitting very still for many many days… doing nothing.

It took therapy… and a med change to get up and moving again.
The meds really helped me get up and start moving again. (Latuda especially)

I still get hit with some deep negatives… I have to work harder to fight out of them before they get bigger.

for me it’s like being trapped in a wax box… I can vaguely see out… but I can’t really hear… feel… reach out… interact…

I get out of the wax build up by starting over with the small stuff… work on talking a bit more… work on small tasks… little by little.

Huge tasks shut me down when I’m in a negative swing. I do ask my family for help when I’m hitting this… because it’s too easy for me to curl up back into my self… so getting out… just walking… doing one small task while I still can… keeping my momentum up.

I find when I have too much time off work… or a big schedule change… I do shut down again… and I have to work twice as hard to get back up to steam.

Just like everything… they come in waves…

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon

I hope not. They make me feel pretty rotten. It feels like walking through mud. But I do get lighter, more enthusiastic moments, though, like walking to the flea market or beach. :sunny:
