Are comedians funny any more? AKA Do I have no sense of humor?

Most comedians start out funny as hell, but then they fall off somewhat. George Carlin was so funny in the beginning, but he is not as consistently funny anymore. I saw Chris Rock do a hilarious routine about black guys resisting arrest. I don’t know how it affected the situation, though. Poor Richard Pryor got so strung out on cocaine. I can’t fault him for it, because I have my own history of addiction. A lot of very funny people have a very bitter side. Mark Twain was a very funny guy, but he hated humanity. He hated people. It was present his whole life. Read “Sherborn’s” speech in “Huckleberry Finn”. I forget the guy’s name - “Robin” something, but he was a very funny guy who had a very bitter side. He committed suicide.

That’s understandable since he died years ago

Think the laughs kinda dwindled once Tina Fey and that cast left SNL, at least for me— although I really stopped paying attention when Will Ferrell, Chris Kattan, Molly Shannon, and Sheri Oteri left.

Phil Hartman, Chris Farley, Adam Sandler, David Spade, Norm MacDonald, Colin Quinn, etc. were a pretty funny cast as well.

I’m mostly a fan of black or dark humor with a slightly subversive twist, and I think only a few comedians get it right these days.

The last comedian I found funny was this guy.

The “white baby keychain” bit will forever be a classic to me  :+1:.

I guess I’ve been watching reruns of him on tv.

SNL hasn’t been consistently good in a long time.

Though they have a skit here and there that crack me up.

I don’t watch a lot of standup anymore because it seems like all our decent comedians are also raging perverts we can’t trust.

It was nicer before we knew everything about everyone.
