Hi, anyone on haloperidol? I Dont have parkinsonism or dystonia, just wanted to know how it affected your cognition? I feel like my memory is really messed up

I was on haloperidol briefly, thinking it was chlorpromazine at the time. I didn’t notice any effect, except perhaps a little increased salivation, but I may be mistaken about that too.
Anyway, pharmacologically, it’s a comparatively very clean drug, being mostly selective for dopamine D2-receptors. In particular it does not block histamine H1-receptors, so it is less sedating and appetite-stimulating. Is that the reason why this particular drug was chosen?

I take haloperidol. It gives me akithisia, but that’s all as far as I know
I was on it for a couple of years. mostly just 1mg. Sometimes I was on 3mg and had akathisia. And sometimes I was on 10mg and had problems moving around without bumping into things, also there were some stiffness and forced movement of my head and neck.
I was put on it because its the most popular 2nd option AP for sz after risperidone in my country. They also usually do this to put on clozapine of its not effective
I use it as a PRN when I’m having a rough time. It shaves enough off of my cognition that I either work poorly or can’t work at all and need a day or two off. Also leaves me exhausted.
I have 5mg as a PRN. No issues.
5mg Haldol and 15mg Olanzapin. It works…
I was on Haldol for around 2 year’s had little to no side effects.
Im on haldol, feel a little bit empty but that could be my existential crisis
