I lived with roommates for 9 years. It can be really awesome or it can be a nightmare.
I got into a couple of wars for sure.
Would I want to go back to it? Probably not lol. Good for younger folks tho
We had one real dickhole that moved in lived upstairs where I did. I talked to the landlord about it and he said that we needed to make it so difficult for him that he would want to move out lol.
So we made up a bunch of house rules, saddled him with all the big chores, told him his internet would be throttled if we noticed (excessive bandwidth use due to gaming) 
. Only doing laundry certain times a day or his laundry would be removed before completion.
I eventually just gave the internet router password to my other roommate and showed him how to turn off the other roommates devices.
Just draconian ■■■■ 
He moved out after about 4 months.
Dont mess with da level 
I lived with a good friend and it ended with me packing her bags for her and kicking her out. She was literally a nightmare.
She completely changed from how she was growing up, and the change occurred about a month after she moved in with me.
She quit working, quit bathing, ate my food AND fed it to the homeless people she was inviting into my apartment!!! They were stealing from me and everything. Total nightmare!
Anyway, roommates can be great but they can also be awful. Be VERY choosy
