I bought some liquorice root tea bags, I’m gonna see if it helps. I kinda like the tea, it has a very sweet taste. I googled liquorice roots and it’s good for balancing hormones, and used for schizophrenia in ancient Chinese medicine. Anyways thought it could help, I’ll give it 2 weeks and see how goes
let us know if you see any improvements. I tried it some time ago but just for fun. Didn’t really like the taste though. I’ve never heard it would help.
I love the taste of licorice, and even the actual root too, but can’t say I’ve ever heard of it helping with schizophrenia.
There is really nothing in terms of good clinical or academic research that I can see that would support this idea:
See this link below for a search on all research publlications:
I’m certain that licorice is psychoactive! Plenty of alcoholics I know have tried to get off booze by loading licorice!
Hey, for awhile, I was trolling Boston environs for restaurants with cuisine from India. Not that I particularly wanted to, you understand, but it was some place my brother would meet me.
So the dishes would be served family style and passed around at the table where everyone had a chance to take it or leave it. It was kind of mystery food to me, but I thought I would be safe with creamed spinach. But then I found a solid morsel in my spinach, and trusting as much as I could, I chewed into the thing, which turned out, to my delight, to be a chunk of licorice root!

I think it helps with digestion, lower GI, and stomach problems too, so if that is at all related to our symptoms, then it couldn’t hurt.
I like liquorice and salmiak, as a matter of fact I am eating some liquorice and salmiak candies at this time. I do not think that these have any effect on schizophrenia, but these taste very good.
My daughter (CF) should probably try this as she gets leg cramps often. In summer, while sweating, or cooling down, you can actually see the salt on her skin.
I’ve taken licorice root as a nice tea and it’s helped when my stomach hurts…
I really like a pinch of licorice root in a light summer salad…
What would Root beer be with out the licorice root…
If you grow it… it makes a great mulch… that can keep pest away and aphids down… (same as garlic… garlic near the roses… less aphids)
but I can’t say it’s done anything for my Sz…
