Not long ago I found out that pears lowered dopamine in animal studies.
I’m wondering if anyone has tried pears and helped them.
For 1 month I’ve had a pear fruit every day.
It’s hard to tell if it does anything because of the medications make me numb, and slightly emotionally numb. But I continue to keep up with the pears, having 1 every morning, sometimes with custard.
I guess I could say I feel more grounded, but that could be the medication.
So far with the pears I’ve had no negative reaction.
I eat one or two pears a day (a pair of pears?) when they’re in season. Haven’t noticed any effect on my positive or negative symptoms in over a quarter century.
I’ve eaten them continously for up to three months at a time. I really like pears. I’m almost always on APs unless I’m having one of my, “I’m an idiot” episodes.
The present study was undertaken to evaluate the antipsychotic potential of Ocimum sanctum in experimental animal models. Male Wistar rats (180-220 g) and albino mice (25-30 g) were used for the study. The antipsychotic effect of the Ocimum sanctum was evaluated on haloperidol induced catalepsy, cooks pole climbing apparatus, locomotor activity on actophotometer, ketamine induced stereotype behavior. Different groups of rats were fed orally with a specially prepared diet containing various concentrations (2% w/w, 4% w/w and 8% w/w) of Ocimum sanctum leaves paste (OCLP) for 15 consecutive days. Further, the biochemical estimations were done by estimating brain dopamine levels. The OCLP produced significant dose dependent potentiation of haloperidol (1mg/kg, i.p.) induced catalepsy in rats, significantly increased the time taken by the rat to climb the pole in dose dependent manner, significantly decreased the locomotor activity. The OCLP significantly decreased ketamine (50 mg/kg, i.p.) induced stereotyped behavior in a dose dependent manner. Ocimum sanctum leaves paste (OCLP) significantly decreased the brain dopamine levels. The results suggest that OCLP posse’s antipsychotic activity. Further neurochemical investigation can explore the mechanism of action of the plant drug with respect to anti-dopaminergic functions and help to establish the plant as an antipsychotic agent.
Fruit is good for you.
It has a mix of many vitamins that we need.
If you are super low on some substance you can buy bottles of supplements. I was low on D even though I get plenty of sun and eat oranges.
I don’t listen to stuff I hear on the Internet at all these theories of what can cure this and that.
But sometimes I do believe in placebos.
So eat a healthy diet and you may get some benefit form that alone.
I will continue having a daily pear and see how I go in a few months. I love holy basil tea but I rarely drink it, but I’m gonna have the tea every day as well.
But I’m not expecting much schizophrenia improvement. It’s most likely a phase I’m going through. It could help in other areas though, or it could help with schizophrenia also.
In the pear study they used pears chronically for 3 weeks on mice.
It’s worth a shot but it most likely does nothing for schizophrenia.
