I’m taking 100mg haldol injection. All I’ve noticed is high prolacting levels. That caused me missed periods, which I don’t mind, and some lactation. Haldol doesn’t make me drowsy.

If you like haldol and need to be on a higher dose but can’t take the drowsiness and side effects, you may want to check out the injection, haldol decanoate.

The injection in the only way I could get a high enough dose and still function. It doesn’t have the same side effects. But I still get pretty bad anhedonia, avolition, and I have zero sex drive.

I’ve been on haldol now for years. Led is right it does dull the sex drive. But it’s a solid med. I personally experience less sides from it then any other med. I am currently on the deco 100mg a ml but I take .85mls. I did the math and if I am correct .75mls works out to about 3 1mg tabs a day.

What I do is I get the injection every three weeks. But also keep 1mg tabs on hand for when it starts to wear off at the end of the three weeks. And or if I’m extra stressed or squirelly

You can’t really compare mg for mg the oral vs the injection. My doctor says it’s roughly 10x the amount you get per day. So the 100mg/mL shot is close equivalent to 10 mg per day.
And given how much I take and how much I need, I find this to be pretty true.

I take 5mg atday. 10mg at night. Does that seem weird I’m on a low dose?
That’s not a low dose. When I was in just the oral that’s about what I was on.

Oh well thanks for the information @led I just thought it came down to mg dose divided by days between shots. I guess all I can say is that when mines wearing off I have to take 3 tabs a day

15mg was pretty much my limit for oral haldol. Any more than that and I was so sedated and zombified I couldn’t function. But at 10mg I had no drowsiness at all.
So I switched to the injection and kept taking 5-10mg oral on top of it.

@led how do you find the weight side effects?
I’ve only been on the injection since December, but so far it seems to be weight neutral. With the pills I was gaining about 10 lb a year.

I’m on 75 mg of the shot every two weeks. It helps with the voices. I still hear them though.
I have been on Haldol about 25 years. I notice I am shaking a little, but nothing I can live with.
I do well on Haldol.
