I’m having terrible anxiety from my thoughts saying terribly scary things I don’t believe in or would ever do. I am usually in the hospital when it gets real bad. Just got the abilify maintenance shot on November 22nd and another on the 20th of December. I struggle everyday with these intrusive voices. Wondering if abilify is even gonna work. It’s been 5 weeks. Shouldn’t I have relief by now??
5 weeks is tricky, you should felt relief on the day of injection like relief of agitation if you had it. It usually takes 1 month after injection to start working properly and YES klonopin can help, I use it for sleep and panic attacks. That is one Benzo that actually helps with anxiety and paranoia, it has long half life and is quite soothing-relaxing. But dont get hooked on it!
Maybe its not the right med for you, you should of noticed something by now.

I dont think it would necessarily stop those intrusive thoughts (thats what the abilify is for). Like others said…5 weeks is kinda iffy. Is there any type of relief?
But the klonopin should help with the anxiety produced by those thoughts though. Ive been on valium for years for this.
Klonopin is think is Clonazepam if I’m not mistaken. I take .50mg every night for sleep but another benefit if it I noticed is that is calmed my racing mind and thoughts. It’s not constantly going and going all the time like it was before. It has helped me a lot.
What’s the usual timeframe of a med to start working?
That’s what I struggle with!
Abilify will work,took it for eight years,my anxiety was better.Now I am on Olanzapine and am calmer

See the thing with kpins is that it’s not to be used long term, because your body gets used to it and requires more for the same initial effect,
If you DO want to use it long term, you need to consult a benzo specialist, not a pdoc, and they will tell you how to use the medicine properly.

There might some subtle changes that you might feel earlier on (like a decrease in agitation) but usually one to 3 or 4 months
Sz,I was diagnosed during teenage year.As I got older,my symptom got better.The worst is fighting the thoughts of stopping meds…I am currently two month on meds
So you been on it for years?
