I gained about 30 kg on Zyprexa 4 years ago and I am still trying to lose it. I’ve lost about 10 kg but I just got switched to Seroquel from Geodon so my weight loss has stalled. I’m keeping it under control by trying to follow a Ketogenic diet(high fat low carb). It works pretty good but I’ve found myself bingeing on sweets around midnight every night. It’s hard to control on this med.
I’m on invega when I was first on it I went from 135 pounds to 185 now I’ve lost weight I’m at 160
On Invega (Paliperidone) I went from 185 to 235 lbs. I feel too sedated to exercise, so things kind of suck for me.
I went from Invega to Aristada lost 40pounds
When I first started on antipsychotics at 14, I gained 40 pounds in 6 months. I went off all medication at two years after starting on them and was able to lose all the weight I put on. Now I’m back on an antipsychotic and I’ve managed not to gain, but the cravings for food are so intense it’s hard to fight them.
Meds make crave food more. But I track what I eat on MyFitnessPal and rarely gain weight unless it was intentiona.
I gained 50 pounds. I was a personal trainer when I went on them. I fought like hell to keep my weight under control. Did me no good. But then, maybe if I didn’t know how to exercise and diet and maintain weight and hadn’t tried so hard all those years I would have gained much more. God knows I’ve met people who have gained well over 100 pounds on them. It happens.
I gained weight on antipsychotics. Plus being in hospitals on antipsychotics caused weight gain at least the three times I was at Prairie St. John’s in Fargo, ND because they had all you can eat food each meal and snacks for before and after meals. I’d be mentally messed up and bored and stuff my face with comfort food everyday.
In two years I put on about thirty kilos on invega.
I’ve now switched to zeldox (geodon) and so far I’ve lost about nine kilos in four months.
It’s not uncommon to put on weight with ap’s and ad’s but you have to weigh it up in your mind. Would you rather be a bit tub and sane? Or skinny and not functioning?
I’m up 15kgs on zyprexa and crave sugar like it’s no ones business
