Anyone on MAO-inhibitor? Dopamine. Fatigue

I had to accept that the only drug that can ease my chronic depression is Marplan (Isocarboxide) a Mao-inhibitor. It’s not a miracle drug but it makes it possible for me to function again.

Strange since its a strong dopaminergic drug and not reccomended for people with SZ.

The only thing that bothers me (apart from the food restrictions) is that it makes me very tired. I hope it will pass.

That’s great news that you’ve found something that helps. I know how badly you suffer with depression.

Hopefully it will.

Try to ask for a MAO-inhibitor. Marplan is only available in Europe (i think) but there are several other MAO-inhibitors in the states which are just as effective. Good luck. Depression sucks.

Besides that you have to know that it is rarely prescribed because there are a lot of interactions with food and other medications and drugs, MAO-i are very toxic medication, but the most effective antidepressant out there.

The official guidelines for mao-i food restrictions are far too strict. You can eat mild cheese (not old, like blue cheese) and you can drink wine, tea and beer but not draft / draught beer.

There is a table on the net with tyramine content that i follow
