Work is hard

Compared to most people, I don’t work all that much. Today after about four or so days off I go back for another three nights in a row. Very physical job that kicks my butt and doesn’t give me room to breathe. I constantly need help from others. It’s sad how unproductive I am and pretty demoralizing. I guess I’ll get used to it if I stick to it. We’ll see if they’ll keep me long enough to find out. Hopefully this night isn’t as bad as the last.

You work overnights?

Yep. I work from 11 pm to 8 am In the morning, roughly.

Good for you to stick with it. I did overnights and it was horrible. I would rather be homeless then work overnight again

Keep with it!

It may get easier as time passes.

Remember that you just started so you really can’t compare to other people.

I’m proud of you for getting out there and trying regardless of how productive you feel you are.

What @GoldenRex said. Also, if work was fun, you’d pay them to do it.

The fact that you are even working is a victory. Just keep at it and i’m sure it will get easier. I’m sure you’re doing fine. Just hang in there!

Thanks for the support, all. I hope it’s not too much of a pain to hear me harp on my job every week, but the support this forum has given me has enabled me to maintain employment for now. If I wasn’t on this forum I might’ve given up already. I guess even I need cheerleaders every now and again.

I still feel a bit of an idiot on the job. Hopefully the process will click sooner or later.

I started as a temp twice a week and five years later I am up to four days a week. It took a while to get used to it but the distraction is worth it.

Hopefully like with a lot of things you get compensated for working nights.

I wouldn’t worry about how you are doing. As long as you try and help others you will be fine

I figure if that your job isn’t making you crazy somehow it means you’re not paying attention.

We had a group of staff spend nearly four hours visiting and gossiping on Monday. One of them was our team-lead who is supposed to prevent that sort of thing. Another was a member of my team. At yesterday’s team meeting the lead told us how behind budget we are and that we need to work harder to get back to target. I guess I gave her a kind of slack-jawed, googly-eyed stare…

“What’s wrong S____?”
“Oh, nothing. Must be lack of sleep catching up with me.”
“Well, you looked kind of upset.”

How do you explain a crime to the driver of the getaway car?!? Gonna talk to her manager today.
