Anyone hear of a device called a "hotspot?"

When I moved last August I needed my internet set up for my laptop. I had a few options, like a cheap plan for a limited amount of Internet usage per month. One option was this “hotspot” thing. It’s a little device a little bigger than a deck of cards. But with this device I can not only get internet in my room at home with unlimited usage but I can get the internet anywhere in the U.S. without needing someones Wi-Fi. It has a couple of drawbacks though. I have to charge it every day but even that’s not bad because I can charge it on my laptop. Anyone else have or heard of this?

In one of my old houses we had super spotty internet,

The provider recommended the “hotspot”.

I used it for about a year, its a solid option.

I have a hotspot that’s pay as you go, I only need to fill it as I use up data or run out of time. There’s lots of plans for regular use though.
