I have 5G internet now. It's about 80% reliable

Previously I had a 4G router with a sim card in it. It basically acted like a glorified mobile hotspot.

Now I’ve got a 5G router with a sim card in it. It too acts like a glorified mobile hotspot.

It costs the same but my internet speed has gone from about 7mbps to 250mbps !

But it’s only about 80% reliable. That’s the downside. I don’t know if it’s a problem with the 5g signal or a problem with the router itself. But I’ve decided to put up with it for now.

Years ago they said you’d be able to download a film in a few seconds with 5G

Noticed they quietly did not deliver that and most people forgot after it dropped off the news cycle!

Nice . I want 5G in my area. But some twats convinced the council that the rays were harmful. We had the same crap when 4G came out.

I mean the antennas are literally quarter of a mile a way atop a tower block.

And they still wont do it.

Hmmm…

I made a change to one of the router settings and now it’s a solid connection. 100%.

Fingers crossed :crossed_fingers:

I also have a wifi router with a SIM card in it, think it’s 4g. Not the best download speed but it works, can play online games and stream Netflix just fine

I also have a 5g router at my house. But I don’t get 250 mbps! I only get 150 mbps, and that’s at like 2 am when no one else in my town is using the internet lol. Wish I could afford broadband because I like to game, but it’ll do for now!

Can’t wait till they release 6g, but I wonder if it’ll be that much of an improvement considering the article posted above, about how they didn’t fully deliver what they promised about 5g, but I heard 6g will have lower ping! Hopefully!

Sometimes if you place the router higher up the house (like the second floor if you have one) or closer to a window you’ll get a better connection (considering the signal is coming from a cell tower)

Maybe that’ll help

I’m thrilled to bits with my internet connection now. It’s 100% reliable since I made those changes to the router 4 or 5 days ago.

This is the first time I’ve had a fast reliable internet connection.

Good old 5G !
