about 10 years ago i was dx with postural hypotension from meds - although i had had it for about 20
i know it’s nothing to worry about and it’s just the meds
but can anyone tell me if it is worrying to seize after falling ? i know that this has also happened on and off for as long but the seizing / jerking seemed slightly more severe this time ?
I don’t know how common seizing is, but I fell a couple weeks ago after trying to stand up and when I came to I saw my arm jerking in front of my face. I don’t know if it was really a seizure, tho, cuz it stopped shortly after I woke up.
I have a lot of problems with getting dizzy when I stand up but don’t fall that often. I do “lose” my vision and bearings when it happens. I’ve recently found that it clears faster if I bend down at the waist when it hits. I’m on Seroquel 800mg and Abilify 400mg injection.
Wow man that is a really low dose. I did get some slight dizziness from Quetiapine for a while. I was taking 400mg at night. It went away after taking it for a few months.
I’ve been feeling annoyed that I can only really tolerate 300mg at night. 100mg at 7pm, 8pm and 9pm. I wish I could tolerate taking a large amount in one go. I guess 300mg isn’t such a puny dose!
I am prone to getting akathisia, and I have to be careful about which antipsychotic I take and what dosages.
Only for sleep are low doses used, 25mg or 50mg a day usually. 300mg a day would be a typical dose for bipolar. High doses are required for bipolar as well. Certainly if someone with bipolar was only taking Seroquel and no mood stabilizer, then 300mg would be the typical dose.
I would never recommend anyone to take an an antipsychotic unless it is absolutely necessary. They are very harsh drugs. I think it is a good thing that you don’t need to take an antipsychotic. I am not criticizing you or anything.
When I first started using Chlorpromazine in 2008 if fainted once when I stood up quickly from laying down.
After being on it for a few weeks I didn’t feel faint anymore.
Like you said Quetiapine can also be used for depression. I don’t know anything about that though. I think the dose for that is a bit lower. I’ve looked it up before but I can’t remember what it said.
The main uses of Quetiapine are for Schizophrenia and Bipolar though. I saw in one of your posts you are from Italy. I was wondering what part of Europe you were from
Man it gets tiring talking about drugs and side effects. Phew I need to take a break from it. Feel like I have been through a warzone with this stuff
Yes I am taking 300mg of Quetiapine at night. 100mg at 7pm, 8pm and 9pm. I don’t don’t get any akathisia taking it like this.
Things are fine. Given what has happened to me in the past though, I think I am going to be on edge and wary about side effects for a long time
I just feel like I’ve been through a lot. Also, all I meant with that last sentence of the previous post was that it gets tiring talking about drugs and side effects all the time.
The emoji at the end of the above post looks pretty sad. I don’t actually feel that sad. I just wanted to point that out. Sometimes it is hard to pick the best emoji!
