Anyone had baby on anti psychotics?

Anyone had baby on anti psychotics? Thinking of getting pregnant. I’m 35.

I think @LED did.

She may have some better insight.

I was on haldol when I got pregnant, stayed in it through pregmancy, and breastfed on it for 2 years. Worked well for me with no issues for baby.

Cool good to know that did u switch from something else to haldol because it’s safer? If you don’t mind me asking did you struggle at all after you had baby because of schizophrenia?

I was on Wellbutrin and Zoloft when I was pregnant with my son. Doctor said the drugs wouldn’t hurt the baby. My son has a speech impediment so I really don’t know

I was already on the haldol, but I discussed with my reproductive endocrinologist, psychiatrist, and perinatologist all before getting pregnant and they agreed that haldol was a good choice because it’s older and there’s a lot of available data that shows it should be fine.

I had trouble while I was pregnant. Was impatient for about 3 weeks. And after she was born I had really bad postpartum anxiety. I’ve had issues randomly, but overall it’s gone pretty well. I think having a solid support person is really important, though. And keeping regular appointments with doctors and therapists. And having a therapist or similar is very important. When I was having issues, my therapist was usually the one that noticed and got me help before things got bad.

I also did Healthy Families (if you’re in the states) and they have someone come to your house once a week and teach you things. It was really helpful. I also had a community health nurse that came by every so often to check on how everything was going with them baby eating and growing and how I was healing and all that.
