Anyone else out there into groove/doom metal music?

I just can’t get enough of it lately.

Bands like Uncle Acid, Sleep, Pentagram, Earth, Witch. They all just rock!

Take care and thank you for reading. :v:

I think @comatose might be into this kind of stuff too.

Both are pretty cool. I love doom, especially funeral doom. I’m mostly into brutal death metal, and slam and stuff though. But I appreciate all forms of metal. I think Chimaira is groove? They kick ass. Solitude Aeturnus, I used to listen to them a lot. I actually used to listen to a LOT of doom metal bands during my teenage years, but I’ll be damned if I remember any of them. Candlemass… Grrr, my memory fails me. A lot of stuff like that though.

Cool! Thank you for some names. I’ve only heard of Candlemass out of all the ones you mentioned. And I think they’re alright.

It’s fascinating how many different kinds of metal bands are out there. It almost seems like there’s a genre for everyone, since metal is a lot like punk in regards to being umbrella term for a genre and subculture.

Take care @UnknownExistence :v:

I’m 53, so I used to listen to Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin growing up. After that I liked Metallica and Megadeath.

This is the first I hear of doom metal.

If this isn’t a sign that I’m getting old I don’t know what is. :older_man:

No problem, I wish I could remember more because I used to know so many, but all I can seem to remember is Candlemass… Lol… Go figure…

I know, it’s incredible how many different genres there are, not to mention subgenres. I swear metal is the most diverse genre out there. I’ve been a big fan of it for the majority of my life, but these days I tend to just stick to the most extreme stuff. You might like some of Katatonia, or Swallow the Sun. They have some doom metal roots in their music, amongst others, including death metal… so expect growling if you decide to look them up. Not sure how you feel about that. Katatonia’s newer stuff is significantly softer than their older stuff.

Anyway, glad to come across another metalhead on here. Take care as well.

LoL. Those are all great bands I love all those three. I found a Deep Purple record for only 2 bucks! Doom metal is sort of a label within a label, so don’t feel bad

Take care @kindness and thank you for the reply.

PS - I am getting a Stooges CD in the mail.

As @UnknownExistence said, metal has so many genres, sub genres, and sub, sub genres.

I guess NIN (Nine Inch Nails) is metal. And Jane’s Addiction. And My Chemical Romance.

I will definitely check them out! Thank you for the recommendations.

Yeah it’s funny, I am a pretty big metal head, but you probably wouldn’t notice it if you saw me on the street. I cut my hair pretty short, shave a lot, and I suppose I wear what is considered “normal” clothes lol.

So I don’t fit the stereotype of us. Although I am looking for a BDU jacket I can put band patches on.

Exactly. Even a lot of metal crosses over into punk, and vice versa. Within punk you have crust (bands like Doom, Conflict), thrash, etc.

Sweet, no problem. I hope they suit your taste.

Haha, actually a lot of people don’t fit the stereotype. I guess there is a sort of subculture surrounding it, but not everyone is directly involved in it. Some just love the music. I’m not sure I entirely fit the stereotype either, aside from having the typical long hair and all-black clothing, just nothing fancy or clearly indicative that I am one.

Patch jackets are cool. I’m just too lazy – or perhaps indifferent about what I’m wearing to do anything like that. Though it would be cool to have a few shirts of my favorite bands.

i think hell yeah is groove metal… I really like southern metal…pantera… black label society…zak wylde is a god… played for black Sabbath for like 15 years… I like folk metal korpiklaani…Viking metal… I stopped trying to even guess at sub genres its all just metal to me now…

groove
death
black
folk
symphonic
southern
classic
neo
Viking
industrial
and the list goes on and on for sub genres…

Coolness. Yeah I used to hang out with a lot of punk rockers who had the patch jackets. I only have a few band shirts – the Misfits, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. I want to buy more metal ones though. Etsy and Amazon have a pretty cool selection.

Oh and I forgot the most ‘metal’ shirt I have is the Italian horror movie Zombi. It’s pretty awesome. Haha.

Yeah I posted this then I realized I am posting about a label within a label lol. Oh well. Pantera are gods.

\m/ rock on @flameoftherhine

I grew up listening to Zeppelin and also listened to Metallica and Megadeath!
You have good taste in Music @kindness!

Oh wow, see I never got involved in the scene, due to being a pretty hardcore recluse I guess. Never even been to a concert. Honestly couldn’t handle all the people and stimulation and such.

Holy sh!t that’s awesome. I loved that movie back when I used to watch binge-watch horror movies all the time, especially cheesy older ones. Does it have the 100 year-old zombie with the worm hanging out its eye socket on it by chance?

Hahaha! Yes it does. The cover of the movie. Below the cover it says “we’re going to eat you.”

I understand not being able to go to concerts. I avoid them at all cost. I went to see a concert about three years ago and had a terrible panic attack.

I love bad horror movies as well. The cheesy old ones are about the only ones I can watch.

Haha, neat!

Yeah, concerts are cringe-worthy even just to watch on YouTube, because of how closely packed in everyone is, like sardines.

I love all kinds of horror movies. The gorier the better. Think the last thing I saw was The Human Centipede… Lol. It was amusing, if nothing else.

I listen to the metal station on satalite radio.

I saw the human centipede too. I thought it was terrible lol. I like the 70’s through the 80’s horror movies the most. I guess you can say that I like comical gore. Like the Burning, Return of the Living Dead (All of the Romero movies are great of course), the Ghoulies, stuff like that.
