Anyone diagnosed as catatonic schizophrenia?

Hi,

Anyone diagnosed as catatonic schizophrenia? Do you get positive symptoms as well along with catatonic symptoms? How these catatonic symptoms appeared, is it gradual or came abruptly? Do catatonic state remain same all the time or does it fluctuate.

Regards

I get catatonia when I stop my meds. Also I had catatonia at the beginning of my sz while on meds for 1-2 months. The freezing lasted less than an hour but can happen many times a day.

So now if you stop medication you get catatonic symptoms?

Yes, exactly. I stopped for a year and had catatonia during the whole year. So I had both catatonia and positive symptoms.

So your extreme negative symptoms might be due to catatonia.

Ask your doctor to prescribe low dose lorazepam to see if negative symptoms reducing a bit.

I don’t have catatonia while on meds.
Benzodiazepines cause cognitive symptoms like memory problems and they are highly addictive.
You need to keep increasing dosage because same dosage becomes ineffective over time.

If benzos reduce negative symptoms my pdr would have already prescribed it to me. He said there is no meds for negative symptoms yet and I trust him.

This video now titled as catatonic schizophrenia. She is not mute and still labelled as catatonic.

Working memory deficit is actually catatonia I think. Catatonia introduces a split second inattention which makes it hard to hold several information in mind at once. This inattention might be the reason for flat affect.

In this video too notice the delay while he speaks. This inattention is causing the flat affect, still states. In some this inattention duration might be large while in some its less which denotes the severity of catatonia.

Only Abilify improved my negative symptoms.
We can’t say that negative symptoms are related to catatonia. Catatonia also happens in depression and other mental illnesses.

I think the inattention is what causing catatonia. Its similar like absence seizure but with very short duration.

Its more like catatonia that’s causing the inattention.

I think antiseizure medications might be helpful to reduce this inattention which in turn can help with the negative symptoms too.

When on acute delusional episode at the end of 10 years of premorbid/prodromal phase, I was catatonic, no hygiene and mute which are negative symptoms but I was paranoid inside which was the positive symptom. This lasts a few weeks after what I was hospitalized and rapidly recover functionality after a few weeks of medications.

Drs already tried that for sure. If there is anything to reduce negative symptoms they will be the first to know. My pdr said Abilify is the best for reducing negative symptoms and he was right.

During catatonic state whats going through your mind? Is it blank or several thoughts running just like in normal persons.

For me its blank completely.

I was highly delusional inside mostly paranoid and thoughts broadcast mixed with sideration
