It feels like I am doing the same thing right now, this past year.
But it does not bother me.

I am home but I am productive. I do things by myself, for myself.

Maybe find some hobbies you can do from home.

I am enjoying staying home and drinking tea and taking care of my health.

Being alone in an apartment is better than living in an assisted living facility.

I have. For 10 months. In a basement. Worst time of my life. I was convinced that the people upstairs were plotting to kill me.

I spend all my time alone at my apartment. I also go out alone. I don’t even see my family. I love my alone time. I think now is the best time of my life.

I spend a lot of time in my apartment but I do attend events here at the apartment building. Playing bingo is much preferable to sitting around. I also attend movies they periodically have and the bible studies. It can be rough sometimes because I struggle with the issue of religion but they feed us after it’s over. I also take the bus to doctor’s appointments, the pharmacy, and occasionally the grocery store. Sometimes my relatives take me places as well although that’s decreasing these days. I mainly get necessary supplies but occasionally buy some food items that are fun to eat. I don’t go to clubs or bars because living with my parents up till my 40’s and not being able to drive conditioned my mind to not wander into such situations. I also go out to do my laundry and watch sports with other guys. I occasionally talk to folks when waiting on the mail, and once in a blue moon I go on a vacation out of town. And oh yeah I try to keep my apartment in as good of shape as I can.

It depends on the assisted living facility. I found it easier to live in the assisted living facility where I stay than to live with my parents. (They’re both dead now, so the issue is moot.) My parents never abused me or anything, but at times they could mortify my sense of personal dignity. Living with them was a painful reminder how bereft I was of the things that most people want in the world. I spend all the time we’re not at the clubhouse alone in my room. I’ve spent the great majority of my time since I was fifteen alone in a room - whenever possible.

You were in the Army though right @crimby. I thought I saw a comment about that from you.

Yes. I spent four years in the army - from 77 - 81.

That’s great. The Navy unleashed my potential in school but now I’m back to square one. I kind of wished I joined the Army, but I probably would have been too unstable to use a weapon every day.

I live with my parent now and I enjoy their company.

But they are downsizing their home in the next couple of years and I will probably end up in a small home alone.

I’m not really looking forward to independent living.

I’ve lived alone in an apartment for ten years now. Until 2010 my mom lived in the same city. Then she had to go to a nursing home, and is 35 miles away. This past year she’s gone from somewhat mentally alert and speaking, to being out of it and unable to speak. She’s dying now, and I am going to be alone when she passes. She is still alive but isn’t really there.

China has a huge population and less land, so the majority people live in an apartment all their lives. In terms of housing, I don’t care if it is an apartment or a full house. I like aprtment life pretty much.
