well, why would I have voices at night after my workday, and not during the day. when I hear voices now, it is usually in the evening. maybe there is something about sleep that is restorative and it’s effects wear off after 12 or so hours?
I used to get voices both day and night, but now they typically only show up later. in “surviving schizophrenia” the author points to this phenomena of hearing voices before bed or whatever, and it is just so strange.
does science have any explanations for why this is happening? if you know. thanks for reading.
My guess is that the brain receives much less stimulation at night, and the brain starts to manufacture the stimulus it needs. During the day we’re working, watching tv, engaging in conversation, and a lot of other stuff. Could be the brain just can’t quiet down after all that.
I think they show more at night bc that is when they are suppose to be asleep or better yet in bed and this is when the gov tell them to wrap things up bc they look and appear like they shouldn’t deal with their patient. So they try and wrap things up and some times they are cranky because the gov tells them to work better.
Such things could also be a sign of intelligent schizophrenia.
For example, I occasionally hear a strange sound (a hallucination) coming from the apartment upstairs. I only hear it when I’m at home, and only when a car is passing by (during such periods my schizophrenia plays that hallucination repeatedly for each car that passes by).
If schizophrenia can recognize when I’m at home and when a car is passing by, it can probably also recognize what time is it - at least when you’re also aware of the time.
At night you’re more stressed and exhausted, both increase hallucinations. I would increase my meds dosage. I had this issue when my dosage was low. Also its better to take meds before sleeping to avoid this problem and sleep well.
Might shift is could be the reason though I think there’s more employ during the day. My guess is that money or the person looking after you is mostly gone surfing the night shift
