Or like… anyone able to swap medicines to something else? I had enough of getting blood tests every month, hehe.

I don’t know what medications are going to be right for you. If your doctor has told you, that they want you to stay on this drug, and you want to come off of this drug, find out what the alternatives are, and why the doctor has made their decision. Preferably do this with your doctor.

This really is a conversation you should be having with your doctor/psychiatrist.

Please have that conversation.

Yeah your exactly right… Just thought maybe someone has gone threw this possibly.

And of course with supervision with a Gp that agrees, I was not talking about doing it myself without guidance mate. haha

Clozapine is one of the harder to quit meds. People who have been taking it for years almost never succeed in getting off it. I quit Clozapine 23 years ago after having used it for half a year. When I look back today I must admit that I should never have quit Clozapine because after that I was a failure for 20 years. Today I’m doing better than on the Clizapine. I just want to say I was one of the lucky ones who survived a very dangerous journey.

Hey @columbus Ive gone today from 400mg to 225mg, and honestly in the past week…Ive been feeling the schizophrenia paranoia symptoms coming back… and its freaking me out.

Basically i started at 400mg and every two weeks 25mg was tapering… Now at 225 im feeling symptoms and its really stressing me out… and it is the worst time as well… its about to hit christmas.

Phew it is tough to come off this medication.

I went psychotic and manic for a couple of years before settling on a combination.

The psychiatrists warned me against getting off Clozapine and they said it is a lifetime medication.

Fortunately, Ziprasidone/Abilify combination worked.

I kind of had to after it wiped out my white blood cells. Forget what I was switched to, it was a long time back.

I was on Clozapine for a while but suffered terrible anxiety symptoms on it. Then, I chose to taper down on my own and ended up back in hospital. The good news is they put me on Clopixol which got rid of all of my symptoms and has few side effects. Clozapine was never one hundred percent successful for me…

Gambier you shouldn’t risk your own well-being by lowering your dose of Clozapine so much. You see when I went down from 600 mg Clozapine to 400 mg I felt so unwell so let me tell you it’s not worth it. I have experimented to much with my pills the last 30 years and have finally found out that ithats not worth it. My advice to you is that you let a blood test show how much Clozapine you need. And as the last thing I will say build a strong alliance with your case worker and psychiatrist they are your best friends.
