Have any of you guys tried the abilify shots? Do they work good for you? Were you able to lose any weight on it?

ive gained 10 pounds on abilify …some poeple gain some dont. So id bet the shot is the same. but i do like abilify

Dizzy although I’ve never tried Abilify shots I can tell you from what I’ve red on the web that 1/3 loose weight, 1/3 weight remain the same. 1/3 gain weight.
But Abilify is well known for not causing that much weight gain.
I’m have been getting a shot of antipsychotics the last 30 years and that has preserved my brain functioning well. In that time span I was on various antipsychotics pills I took most of the time.
3/4 of all schizophrenic patient stoped there meds before 2 years had past. I think that shots are clearly underutilized.
Isn’t it Abilify maintena?

I forget, I get them confused, but yeah the shots I mean. How much weight did you lose? Just wondering? I’ve noticed they’re better about not cussing so much appetite but I hope it last

Yeah it works the best for out of all the APs, but the pills were causing too much weight gain

Yeah I really like the shots so far. Just one less thing to keep up with everyday, like having to take the pills. Also seems to help my symptoms a lot too. I would definitely recommend if someone was looking for the right meds

I stopped clozapine and lost almost 100 lbs then started taking Abilify with only slight weight gain. So much easier to manage weight

That’s incredible free lunch. My depot of Clopixol caused zero weight gain but so does the Seroquel. Well I’ have 20 kg overweight because the Seroquel and fit into a European Size 36 jeans. I’m in the process of getting off the Seroquel to shed some weight. My target size is jeans Size 31.

You stopped clozapine and switched over to Abilify immediately?

Yeah I’ve heard clozapine is a bad one for weight gain, but that’s great that you lost the weight man. Was it easy or hard to lose once you quit taking clozapine?

It was easy, because I was psychotic: lots of energy walked a buttload
