Any geniuses here?

I was curious, some people are tested for IQ in childhood, does anyone have an unusually high IQ that was tested by a psychologist professionally (not an online test).

And, if so, how are you managing the schizophrenia diagnosis?

@firemonkey and @Crystal-Cotton have high IQs I believe. @Clint is a member of mensa, the high IQ society.

I was tested in childhood and was enrolled in the gifted/talented program in school but nobody ever told me what my IQ score was. I don’t think I’m a genius, maybe just above average.

I was above average as a teen and young adult
My IQ was tested and was told that it was above average but I don’t remember the number.

Today I’ve lost a bunch of IQ points
Between the meds and my mental illness I’ve taken a big cognitive hit

But no I don’t think I was a genius

No genius here, but the medications/illness have given me a cognitive hit, as well.

I was curious how the brightest are faring with this illness, and whether they struggle as deeply as I do as regards to cognitives.

I don’t remember my iq because I took the test as a little kid. It’s supposedly somewhere between 125 - 135

People have told me I’m a genius but I doubt it.

I am a genius I think because I am an architect, an author and a talented artist and musician…not by i q standards though…I don’t care.

I have been told by others am intelligent, not sure about genius. I was also referred to a grammar school when I was 14.

They’re both very intelligent. Unfortunately there are more than a few people who practice very hard at Mensa type tests to increase their chance of becoming a member. We’re talking about their doing a dozen or more of such tests, and the ‘practice effect’. The likes of @Clint @Crystal-Cotton @shutterbug are much more intelligent than those doing that to get into Mensa.

Maybe in primary/middle school

But for whatever reason my behaviour was not accepted or acceptable and I threw it all away.

Made up for it somewhat, but the ripple effect has created a real deficits that the peers at work always have the upper hand with a conventional education.

They have a better memorisation of the selective facts taught in school to conform you and assimilate you into society seamlessly…

However, the way my brain works is not normal in comparison and people seem to view it as innovative when really all I am doing is pointing out what’s obvious to me.

Took a while to be more confident in my thought process.

This ‘experiment’ in my job really has shown to me directly the value of diversity of opinion and the value of speaking up with a no question is stupid mantra :om:

Some people can sing but can’t dance some people are good at sports others are not I don’t believe in IQ being the only thing that’s used to test intelligence I know a lot about animals but not science everybody has there own strengths and weaknesses I can’t see how one test can work to test intelligence of a whole group of people

I don’t care about Mensa, it’s not that interesting to me. Solving a puzzle quickly is not that impressive. Doing good astrophotography, that’s impressive.

Oh really you do photography?

Its all about how much you are exposed too and how much one has learnt from that exposure IMO

Can’t tell if you’re joking or not, but, yes, I do. Incessantly.

Is it cloud bust photo?

I feel embarrassed saying it but yes I was labelled a ‘genius’ in my school IQ tests.

I wouldn’t say I am now with 30 years of sz!

I think it’s a blessing and a curse - more insight equals more pain and suffering, but also am able to come across as a normie and still be quite independent.

I would rather lose 20 points of IQ to be cured of sz.

I tested 133 as a teenager, but did poor on the military tests to measure IQ which was about the same time. 12 years ago I scored 111. Today it would probably be less. Not sure how reliable these tests are though.
