Anxiety worsened after increasing clozapine and valproate

Two weeks back I increased my clozapine from 250 to 275mg and valproic acid from 600 to 800mg. And now my anxiety has gotten worse. What can I do ? Because clozapine reduces serotonin levels as being a serotonin antagonist, thats why i assume its worsening my anxiety.

I have tried almost all SSRI/SNRI for anxiety, almost all of them worsen my psychosis. Vilazodone also worsened psychosis. Low dose quetiapine worsened myoclonic jerks and twitches. I can try low dose quetiapine again though with a high dose anticonvulsant.

I tried benzo called klonopin(clonazepam) upto 0.5mg, I didnt felt any anxiety relief at this dose but i do got cognitive problems like poor attention/concentration and memory issues.

What should i do about my anxiety ?

Have you tried lexapro at all? It worked really quickly for my anxiety.

lexapro made me paranoid and worsened my psychosis. I have tried other SSRI and SNRI too, they all worsen psychosis.

Oh sorry to hear that. Are you seeing your psychiatrist any time soon?

Other meds i have not tried for anxiety are:

  1. gabapentin/pregabalin
  2. or low dose quetiapine with hige dose anticonvulsant
  3. high dose clonazepam/klonopin
  4. paroxetine(it has anticholinergic properties which might worsen cognition)
