Anti depressants exacerbating psychosis?

What does it mean when this happens? Is it an indicator of bipolar disorder vs schizoaffective disorder? I need to take an antidepressant but they seem to make my psychosis reappear.
Anyone else had a problem like this?

A psychiatrist told me I was schizoaffective and could not take antidepressants.

That is interesting because I am getting worse and they upped my dose of zoloft. I wonder if the two are linked

It’s a strong indicator of bipolar rather than depression, but I don’t think it distinguishes BP from sza.

I’m sorry, though. I know that your depression is incredibly painful to you right now.

Anti depressants I tried two…and both gave me suicidal thoughts…that I don’t usually have…quit them both almost immediately…also increased my voices and hallucinations…did nothing for my d.I.d but I don’t think anything helps that…wish you luck…

Thanks, might have to try tcds or some alternative method.

That’s what I’m thinking too. That I might be sza and not bipolar. I guess it doesn’t really matter at this point.

Don’t touch anti dps at all any mental illness…they caused my schizophrenia to appear quicker…i took anti dps early 2016 started thinking about taking governments down got off them psychotic thoughts went away got on them a bit later for sleeping problems caused me to think bugs and germs were going to eat me and ended up in the psychiatric ward.

Yes but I need these little bitches to handle my OCD.
I’m lost without Prozac, and oh yea, how do you get out of a deep depression without them?

There’s deff other alternatives if you are already on the Prozac coming off them will make psychosis or a existing mental illness even harder so I don’t recommend coming off instantly. But anti depressants in my opinion are the worst things ever invented. It’s all a ploy Drs throw them out to anyone probably people out there feeding there ten year old anti depressants.

I’ve heard that antidepressants aren’t good for bipolar. If you are bipolar you need mood stabilizers. I’m sza bipolar and I take hella lot of mood stabilizers.

Someone w psychosis should really only be taking an ssri AD. I was told by my first psychiatrist that other classes of AD may affect and increase dopamine levels (especially wellbutrin) and this can exacerbate psychosis.

If you were bipolar ADs would also be a big no-no as they trigger mania.
