My doc told me paranoia.

I’m trying Aniracetam until my doc gives me a script for adderall.

So it increases the paranoia? what about the AP drugs, don’t they counter the paranoia?

Are there health conditions that make amphetamine more dangerous?

Yes. Amphetamine is potentially more risky for people who have or are at risk of heart or circulation problems including high blood pressure.

Amphetamines may worsen glaucoma due to changes it can have on blood pressure.

Additionally, amphetamine may be riskier for people with mental health problems. People with schizophrenia or a history of psychosis should avoid taking amphetamines as they are usually much more sensitive to getting psychotic side-effects, and could trigger a relapse of schizophrenia or psychosis.

Lot of info out there about the risk of taking amphetamines and triggering a psychotic episode in people with psychosis/schizophrenia. I would advise against going down this route without close pdoc’s supervision.

I can imagine it causing mania in bipolar patients too. I’m lucky my subtype is depression.

Amphetamines can worsen or trigger psychosis/mania in certain vulnerable populations.

I would be very careful taking an “upper” if I suffered from schizophrenia or bipolar, or another psychotic disorder.

Amphetamines are basically watered down methamphetamine, which is very very bad, to be real.

Unless you are on a hell of a dose of a major tranquilizer, particularly a first generation “neuroleptic”, I would not dare, unless your doctor (I am not one) says otherwise.

General rule of thumb; stimulants make psychosis worse. I drink a tall Starbucks black coffee every morning yet I am well medicated and sedated otherwise (that means until I have the coffee, I am defunct and useless).

Now if you have ADD or ADHD along with psychosis, the rule of thumb is double jointed! I like that analogy so I will use it. Double jointed meaning flexible unlike most other people.

Milder stimulants are different, especially legal non regulated or controlled drugs like coffee and nicotine. Nicotine does help with cognitive performance and fights sedation caused by meds. I am on the nicotine patch medium strength during the day. I sometimes have a cigarette when I wake up if it is a very very rough morning. Coffee in excess is bad- I mean it can be really bad for us unless we are on HEAVY meds like Thorazine (I did read a study about caffeine and Thorazine and it said Thorazine basically overpowered caffeine, period.)

It’s a touchy subject- I would say to avoid anything but morning coffee unless you are diagnosed for an attention disorder along with scz (and also prescribed amphetamines instead of buying them illicitly, but that goes without saying, we all know better than that.)

Hope this helps- my opinion is morning coffee IF you wake up feeling very sedated and not fit to perform.

Any effect you get from amphetamines is going to be temporary. When you are coming down off the amphetamines you will be worse than before. Also, if the amphetamines can overpower your AP you are likely to develop “amphetamine psychosis”, a state induced by amphetamines that is similar to schizophrenia. This might kick you over into a prolonged psychosis.

and of course amphetamines can prevent one from sleeping for days at a time and this lack of sleep causes a temporary psychosis.

Not even for a long drive? I.e 13 hours drive? Half a pill to make me alert would it be that harmful too.

Unless you are diagnosed with an attention deficit disorder with or without hyperactivity, it might just make you have an episode.

I know it’s tempting and normal people use them all the time, but it can have severe catastrophic results for us.

Just drink caffeine instead- I had a Starbucks this morning and it got me through classes just fine- three Starbucks, say one every four hours would probably do well for a 13 hour drive.

Good to hear from you, by the way. :grinning:

Lol, it is really tempting. I think I will skip it anyway.

Same here my mate, i am going on vacation back home, very excited about it, but also stressed out, last time I took vacation from overseas back home was one month pre onset, I am afraid too much joy affects me. Lol, since we are talking, what would happen if I have some hard drinks, a beer or a glass of scotch. Would it also cause complications?

If you are already doped up with synthetic meds then you should never touch alcohol.

But if not? I think it’s a case by case thing,so nobody can really tell you definitely whats going to happen.

Some of the worst people in the history of humanity were drunks

Conversely some of the best were also drunks.

I guess all im saying is don’t become a drunk.

For me i’d do cocaine in my dumb kid days and be able to take a 1/4 gram of ‘great’ quality coke up each nostril and go right to sleep but if you give me a case (24) of beers rated at 8.0 and i’ll be up for days.

One drink is generally safe. I take it you’re on a second generation med- I forgot which one.

I sometimes have a beer, it’s fine. Now one beer or glass of whiskey is different than five lol.

I love jack Daniel’s fire- a smooth cinnamon whiskey. It’s my drink of choice on ice. No problem with one maybe two shots on ice with some friends or colleagues (often both my friends and colleagues, met all my friends at school)

Invega 9mg. I will go with a Mexican beer and red label, not too much perhaps one glass or maximum two. After a long 8 months at work I owe my self some treat. :sunglasses:

Im just curious. …you enjoy the taste of beer? Not so much the effect? then why not drink non-alcohol beer ? I tried it once, it tastes like light beer, so if you dont want the alcohol interaction then drink that stuff.

Amphetamines put a lot of stress on the body and have nasty side effects. I wouldn’t touch them having schizophrenia.

I had a bad reaction to alcohol on Prozac…made me paranoid. Anyone know why? I’m fine drinking now that I’m off it.

Prozac multiplies the effects of alcohol. Source: I once drank a ton on Prozac at a party and ended up driving the porcelain bus.

My friend looked up the interaction on his phone and told me it tripled the effects of alcohol at my dose.

Antidepressants and booze also got me arrested by seven cops one time.

I would say that one is better off smoking weed, but weed and schizophrenia is just no.

You’re better off finding a new addiction, maybe a healthier one like work or reading or exercise, whatever, something other than alcohol, drugs or tobacco.

Honestly tobacco is the most acceptable addiction for us, 80-90% of us smoke cigarettes. Studies have unfortunately shown that the nicotine has some benefits for us…and we are less likely to get cancer. It’s been theorized that schizophrenia is still in the gene pool because of its cancer resistant victims.

But honestly you’re better off addicted to porn.

I had to say that to be lighthearted and also say what I was actually thinking is a realistic and dopamine rewarding activity.

In grown men, masturbation is negatively correlated with prostate cancer.

Excuse me I am going to the bathroom with my tablet and a bottle of silicone lubricant, and a towel. Nothing to see here.
