Amnesia anyone?

Anyone ever have amnesia during an episode?
My last one couple months ago I eventually realised all the voices and stuff id been doing wasnt real and i think i had a cognitive meltdown or something but i passed out either on the couch or the floor.

My partner came in to ask me what was going on and i said i didnt know, then asked whos guitar was on the wall. Then i asked whos house i was in. Then i remembered that it was mine later.

But i had forgotten how to move my arms or legs and i didnt really even know which way was up or down or left right.

I was shown several times how to move but kept forgetting how to do it, couldnt stand up kept passing out again and again.

Thats how i ended up at the hospital by ambulance. The medics thought i was high on drugs because my pupils were massive.

I thought i was maybe in italy so i kept asking the medic on the way to the hospital

But nope it was full on manic psychosis episode i was in. It kinda popped up out of no where and i didnt expect it so i didnt catch it in time. Hadnt had one like this in like a decade

At the hospital it felt like i should be walking up the walls like it was the floor i was so disoriented.

Thankfully i snapped out of some of it 5 days later because i had enough insight to realise something was up.

Anyway yeah amnesia soup anyone?:ramen:

I still suffer from memory problems due to a psychotic break I had 11 years ago.

I’ve forgotten everything I learned in school, I am relearning how to cook, I’ve forgotten books I’ve read etc.

But it has also made me less depressed, but more neurotic. :face_with_spiral_eyes:

While you were in the hospital, did they rule out possible neurological causes of your symptoms? For example, could you have been having a seizure(s)?

Not to freak you out, but my father had these symptoms and it was due to increased pressure in his skull from a brain tumor. For some reason he thought the wall was the floor and the hospital bed he was lying in was the wall.

Hi welcome back. I am so happy you are okay and doing better. That sounds like such a scary experience. Good that you were not alone. Never had an episode like that, but I do have trouble remembering some things. Not sure if it’s meds or from other trauma.

Yeah it was a mindbender for sure. With my psychosis the pdoc said i had what called “stream of conciousness” when i was manic.

Like unfiltered high speed thinking and just delving into any topic of any kind. And kept seeing all these 3D geometric shapes so math and science centered around this one.

I think after the first 5 days i had like 50 folders of data and 100+ research papers ive skimmed and pages upon pages of math diagrams and physics and other junk. So many things happened it would take a long time to cover it lol.

At some point i was gonna be a pro golfer a pro boomeranger :boomerang: and some master 3 point basketball shooter? Lol i thought i became a savant or something overnight

Nothing like that for me. I was a blackout drinker so I would lose time. I’d be with friends and then I would be waking up at home feeling like complete garbage. No idea what happened in between.
