Hey guys its Joseph, I’m 34 yo
I’m taking an antipsychotic (Solian/Amisulpride) for 4.7 years.
(current dose : 225mg)
After a long research I’ve came to the conclusion that there’s not enough information about anyone who tapered off Amisulpride… but it may be because it’s a less common med.
I was reading about the mechanism of Amisulpride, it appears to be block dopamine as in the term ‘dopamine antagonist’ from 200/400mg and above, but acts as dopamine agonist in low doses. for example: in 100mg it’s still blocks dopamine and simultaneously facilitates dopamine release.
-I don’t ‘get’ any of those clinical definitions. perhaps it means I will just be more vulnerable to psychosis?
today, after I’d CT in the past, I’m willing to try the 10% reduction technique.
So, will it be wise to make 10%-5% reductions each month 'till I’m down to 0mg?
or I need to consider to switch AP to give some ease on the withdrawal process?
– any open minded thoughts are welcome.–
Its not recommended to taper off your meds on your own. You need a Dr. I fall in this trap sometimes too then regret it. I stopped my meds on my own and ended up in the hospital.
Aziz, how did you understand from my words I’m not doing it with my doctor’s approval?
I have a variety of safety nets including my doctor.
I’ve asked for specific answers, not this.
feel free to leave Aziz if it’s uncomfortable to you. Actually you know what? You’re making me uncomfortable so please… around this thread I dont like getting these kind of comments so it’s probably for the best for you just leave
I take 400mg amisulpride. It’s my best dose, but sometimes I went to 600 or even down to 200. Anything lower than 200 and I got ill. I love this med and have taken it for eight years amongst others.
