Am I doing the right thing? Poll

Should I wait another 2 weeks before increasing Clozapine from 300mg a day?

In 2 weeks, I would have been on this dose for 6 weeks

It says online it takes that amount of time for a dose to settle

Not feeling too bad tbh

Positives are pretty well controlled.

Only issue is I am still taking a low dose of Olanzapine, and it says online that it has a major interaction with the Clozapine - so eventually I will have to stop that and increase the Clozapine

Trying to work this one out, as the pdoc says it’s up to me to judge

:person_shrugging:

  • Take it slow and increase only after 6 weeks of treatment at current dose
  • Increase now to be safer in that symptoms won’t get bad again
  • Why the f are you asking me this?

We’re not doctors. I can’t believe your doctor left it up to you.

I know right! They’re pretty unbelievable here…

He told my case worker it’s up to me and how I ‘feel’

But I do not know all about the different meds and interactions

This is why I am left scratching my head a bit on this

Think the dose is working, but I know it can dip fast and get out of hand if you’re not careful

Probably what the doctor was saying that it will depend on how the medication is treating your symptoms as to what they are going to do. They are waiting for your input on your care.

You have to have blood tests every month on that med. It’s that risky to mess with. Somebody isn’t right. You didn’t talk directly with your doctor so I’m guessing there is a misunderstanding happening.

Every week for 6 months, then every 2 weeks for 6 months, then monthly after that!

How do you feel about the options and which options appeals more

I am not sure. At the moment I’m keen to take as little as possible

In the past I have always maxed out on dose, but they tell me this drug is way different to all the others

My advice is to get your blood testet. If the blod sample shows that the meds ain’t at the right level that get a raise in Clozapine - Leponex. Don’t worry about mixing Olanzapine with Clozapine as they are very chemically alike.

Patience Joker-san. These things are better when you give them time. They won’t kill you in a matter of weeks, take your time and be patient

Stay where you are now if you feel good

And then theres room to maneuver in the future

300mg a day? Thats loads?

It can go to. 900mg if needed

Wow i didn’t realise

Well its good your feeling a lot better by sounds of it

How is work?

How are you feeling? I kept asking to increase the dose of my latuda but coming back down recently has been an improvement in some quality of things, and generally I feel the same as when I was on the bigger dose.

Yea it’s pretty good. Was a stressful week, but got through it. Thanks for checking in

It seems to be treating positives better than any other I have tried, but I have side effects, and I think if I were to go higher it might cause more of a problem for very little additional benefits

It’s good to hear that you’re back at work and making it work!

I get very sedated on clozapine. Hence, I take a low dose.

It seems like things are going alright for you, but you mentioned before that you gained a lot of weight. Maybe you can shift your focus on improving your health.

Just a thought. Trying to help.

It depends on what level of function/stability you have demonstrated over time is my guess. I was given the choice of trying to go off meds and I was also given the choice of what my standby meds are in case I biff it and hit the ditch. So far so good, but I have Vraylar, Haldol, and Ativan if crap goes sideways.
