We might have the television on in the break room at work today to watch the results come in. The television has been on for the debates.

It’s funny, in this country I get the impression people are more interested in the politics of America than the politics of Australia. The US election got more coverage than the recent Australian election!

This may be discussed!

I travelled to Canada with my parents a week before the 2004 election. Everybody wanted to talk to us about who we were voting for and what we thought. I think the whole world wants to vote in our elections :smiley_cat: and can’t help but try to lobby us to make sure we vote the way they’d like.

I don’t think i’m going to pass on staying up to hear…

Me too. I’m scared :scream:

that’s true. I’ve never seen the President change clothes either. Always in the same formal uniform. would be nice to finally see the President wearing casual jeans for once, when leaving office

Keep the rhetoric cool, folks. This is a tense time for everyone and I don’t want to have to close threads.

Since when was it wrong to speak the truth?

Welp, no matter who wins, there’s gonna be some violence going on tonight so stay safe y’all :v: I know I’m personally gonna be holed up in the house with my brothers and grandparents. If anything, I’ll be messaging ya’ll in Mexico

I understand how you’re feeling, but the no politics rules still applies. i’d like not to have to close this thread, okay?

Don’t worry the system of checks and balances will lessen any bad impact from the narrow aspirations of any one individual. Also the gridlock in washington will make it less likely to get anything done. Just look at what happened with our current president. Got one really important thing to him passed then lost the house and senate and everything slowed to a crawl. If either candidate is as bad as people think they will only last one term.

Except trump will have a Republican Congress, so there won’t be the same resistance and gridlock. The checks and balances will be lopsided significantly as opposed to Obama who had a Republican Congress that kept him from doing things.

Obama had a democrat congress though at first. That is how he passed obamacare. Anyway I’m saying that even if Trump is as bad a people think he actually only has 2 years or the same thing that happen to Obama will happen to him.
