All SZ forum posts by handle viewable through Google....i had no idea

I just googled my handle koolbreeze72 on google and all of my posts on this forum showed up. Did you know that our posts to this forum are viewable through google? What do you think about this. It sorta bothers me.

Hey it kind of makes me famous :sunglasses:

Just wondering how you found the site in the first place?

I’ve been posting here for over 4 years. A close friend who was researching SZ after i was diagnosed 10 years ago referred me to the site. I audited the site for about a year before posting anything on the old site. Why do you ask?

You’re lucky to have a friend like that. Plenty of people I knew had access to Google and never did any research for me. It might have shown me they cared.

I agree. This site has been very helpful to me in many ways especially since i’ve never had group therapy it sorta serves that purpose for me.

Why did you think they wouldn’t be? It’s not a private forum.

I didn’t know. I had no idea our comments were viewable to people who are not members of the forum. Is this standard for all forums on the internet and how did you find out. Is it posted somewhere on this site and can you tell me where to find that information.

Nevermind. I found it.

• Anonymity

Our members join our community to share with other people living with similar illnesses. Because many of our forums are public, we must keep our identities completely anonymous. In that way, we can discuss the role our significant others play in our lives without publicly embarrassing them. Likewise, we keep anonymous so that teachers, employers, fellow students or coworkers can not ā€œGoogleā€ and identify our community posts. To protect your anonymity, members should not communicate with each other off this site. We ask that members not exchange phone numbers or meet in person. Our experience is that these ā€˜offsite’ relationships can be disastrous (especially when one member becomes pathologically dependent or manipulative towards the other). Basically - be careful. If you ever meet anyone offline - be sure that a friend or family member has full information about the person you are meeting - phone number, email address, and information like that.

I wouldn’t worry about the whole wide world being able to read our posts and comments. I haven’t doubted that since I heard that good hackers can even tap into governments sensitive computers. Putin is probably reading this right now.

Lol. Lets hope not. I guess i was surprised esspecially because it looked like as i was logged in the screen showed a login and out button. Check it out and let me know if shows the same under your handle.

Main thing as long as you don’t tell others your user name here. You are somewhat safe. Always love those that post elsewhere I’m such and such on such and such site. Four weeks later they are posting their being stalked by people from all over but have no idea why. Always be careful what you do end up posting on the net is the main rule. Something about the nets anonymity seems to bring the worst out of people too.

Why wouldn’t you want to talk to a world leader. We all are a part of this world, and we all are affected by the decisions they make. It seems like we are all genuineness, but with no power to implement our great ideas.

Good point. Yet effective communication must go both ways send, receive, and confirm everyone’s point is understood. I don’t think that is happening if a world leader is anonoumously reading my posts on this forum. This site works well because we take advantage of the opportunity to share our views and get replies to them and respond back.

Plus i don’t think the world considers us geniuses. Genuises are lauded and supported for their ideas and innovations in thinking. I don’t believe that is what’s happening for us.

Interaction through words exchanged by way of the internet can be a good way for a world leader to stay in touch with the thoughts and ideas of the people who have elected them. They are trusted by a certain degree of transparency allowed by them. One man is able to start a war because we are all still acting as individuals and not as a community of believers in the same God, but that is all changing now because of this new way to communicate our ideas. I am optimistic that there are more good people in this world then there are evil minded ones. No one man should be anything by themselves but alone.

When I stated that we ā€œallā€ seem to be genuineness, I was referring to all people everywhere posting their ideas on line. Like written in the Desiderata ā€œeven the dull and ignorant, they too have their sayā€

I understand what you are saying. You sound like an optimist to me and unfortunately i probably am not one. I’m not gonna say i’m simply a realist either because i have learned that that is an idea that is often time used to cover up just being negative. I’m glad we have optimists in the world like you it helps to give me hope which i must admit i have lost a great deal of since being diagnosed. Thanks for your comments.

I am a very negative person when I’m not trying to be an optimist. It is my belief that we naturally tend to be bad from lack of discipline. I’m not a Bible thumper by any means, but I do live mostly by what it has to offer us so when Jesus stated that ā€œNo man is good, only our Father in Heaven is truly goodā€. I can believe it. Good people are just well disciplined individuals in my book. And that is a good thing to be. I am a recovering alcoholic and drug abuser for example.

Yeah pretty much everything there is to say about me is on here…

Whoops.

So it goes.

(I was near suicidal and didn’t think I had anything to lose)

I do think it’s good for other people with specific psychosis problems to be able to find similar cases.
