Akathisia and med switch

I’m on latuda and after I take my medication and go to bed I get the restlessness, hysterical tension and body twitching.

Been on latuda over seven years.
It’s gotten worse lately.

Feels like withdrawals but I’m not on drugs .

It’s unbearable.

Can switching from latuda to olanzapine take away that do you think?

I don’t have a psychiatrist but will see my Gp about it.

I have such insomnia because of it too.

Latuda is good otherwise I think but unbearable at bed time.

Even earlier than bed it can come on.

If you have akathisia when in bed and trying to sleep you should switch meds.

I’m on olanzapine and sometimes get it too. If I don’t fall asleep I suffer from akathisia. So olanzapine might not work for you.

It’s a trial and error kinda thing with these meds.

Have you had akathisia for the 7 years you been on Latuda or did it start after a certain time?

As for if you would have it on olanzapine I don’t know, I’m on olanzapine for 4 years now. I got akathisia the first month I was on it, but it disappeared.

If you don’t find a solution by switching meds, maybe ask your doctor to look into medication you can take for akathisia. IIRC beta blockers can work for example.

Propranolol worked for me, in fact, I don’t even use propranolol anymore bc it’s gone now

I had akathisia on Olanzapine when I took the pills. When I tried the tablets that dissolve in your mouth I got restless legs if I took too much.

I took latuda and yes I experienced restlessness that made my entire night very bad. That was when I had slept during the day, otherwise I’d sleep through the restlessness. Crazy as it sounds I believe latuda caused paranoid delusions. I am on 10 mg zyprexa and I no longer have RLS.
