After my husband went to visit his cousin and spend time with her daughter, I'm legit scared of my son growing up

My husband went to visit his cousin last weekend in LA.

She has a 13 year old daughter that he also got to spend some time with.

The unfamiliar things she’s going through and trends of the times have me super shaken up.

I don’t want my son to go through this.

Puberty is such a confusing time, but now, with all the pressure to define your sexuality on so many levels at a young age,

And fit into what the kids consider trendy.

It’s too much.

My worries at that age (mental illness aside) were clothes and how popular I was at school.

Now mental illness is cool and I don’t understand anything.

It’s like he’s walking into a world I know nothing about.

His parents are ten years older than me, they can’t be too much more in the know.

The dads are super smart guys and I have faith they can navigate this better than I could, obviously,

But it still terrifies me.

He’ll be a little man soon.

How do you deal with your kids growing up in totally ■■■■-to-death pile of fire this planet now is?

Every generation has their thing that older generations dont understand. Yes it’s a confusing time to be a teen, but its also an interesting time. And before you know it your teen turns into a young adult and begins to figure out life for themself. I have a 19 yr old and a 14 yr old. They both are pretty good kids. You just have to give them a good foundation and they’ll figure out life.

California is probably one of the more difficult places to do what you’re trying to do and also I would argue that it is affecting your perspective on the nature of the entire planet! The world is not cali!

My kid doesn’t live in California.

I’m very happy to hear that
My niece is being raised in Pasadena and I really am worried about the sort of people she’ll know growing up. Formative years

He likes California and I don’t think it’s out of the cards for he and his dads to move here eventually,

But right now he’s in a big city on the East Coast.

This is actually the first time my kid has lived in the states since he was adopted.
