Advise on fixing reverse sleep?

One of the big things I struggle with is reverse sleep. Accidentally staying up way too late at night, and then sleeping most of the day. My symptoms just get so bad at night.

Does anyone have any advise on fixing reverse sleeping? Other than the obvious of slowly fixing it each day? Do you have any tips or tricks that help you not to fall into it? It‘a consuming my life!

You’re going to have to stay up probably a night and the next day to sleep.

Discipline, unfortunately. I used to have this. You have to consistently get up at the same time in the morning even if you’re up late. Ideally go to bed consistently at the same time, too. It is hard but once your body gets stuck in that rhythm it will become easier on its own. The key is to wake up at the same time, though, and get in front of some sort of light (I use a bright natural light).

What I do is go to sleep and wake up at the same time every day. Don’t sleep during the day except a 20 minute nap. I don’t know if you can do that.

I don’t understand.

Tell us your schedule in detail.

What hours do you sleep?

Ambien. Or other sleep aid.

Ambien + Mirtazapine is reliable or me to sleep.

Try pulling it all nighter and then going to sleep in the afternoon and waking up very early in the morning

I don’t have much of a schedule atm. That’s the problem. Went through a rough period where my symptoms swallowed my life, trying to get back on my sleeping.

When I really need to get to bed earlier, I take two Benadryl. 25mg each. That is the only thing I have found that works. You have to be careful not to get dependant on them though!

Choose what time you want to sleep and take valerian or melatonin every day at the same time.

I love that idea. Unfortunately, I’m on Seroquel, and Benadryl and Seroquel are known to have reactions to each other and I’d have to talk to my doctor first.

I understand. No matter what I do my hours get screwed up eventually. There is no answer but to do your best for as long as you can.

I had the same problem recently. I thoroughly hate benzo’s. But I used one, one single time (not repeatedly), to knock myself unconscious at 23. Sleep. Now I hope my sleep rhythm is corrected. I feared I would get delusional again if I didn’t sleep. Hence the trashing of my no-benzo-ideal.

Also, I set my alarm this morning. And got up at 7. And started with active things. Rhythm restored. I hope.

I also try make appointments in the morning. It forces me.
And I need an internet lock that kicks me off the computer at 21 or so.

Wake up early in morning. Sometimes just going to bed early doesn’t make you fall asleep early.

@anon21280033 got a point. Decrease your screen time at night. Two to three hours before bed no screens.

I oversleep and not able to manage the sleep well. I have to watch the laptop or phone all the time when I am awake. Hope I find the right rythm. I use this thread’s suggestions to improve my sleep pattern.
